This Sporting Life...

Postby thatmanadz » Fri Dec 24, 2004 1:29 am

How you all doin'?

I'm heading off to Tokyo in february to teach english for a year and while I;m there I'd like to continue one or two of my sporting hobbies. Besides the drinking binges and woman pleasing that is. 8O

I play football and field hockey over here in the UK and have done for my University and all that crap, just wondered if anyone knew of any way I can continue playing when I'm in Japan.

Cheers...

The YCAC (http://www.ycac.or.jp) has a field hockey team and a grass pitch to play on. They are a members club but non-members do play in some of the teams. You can find football in a lot of areas of Tokyo (including the YCAC), especially 5-a-side.
The free weekly magazine, Metropolis (http://metropolis.japantoday.com), has a sports section in the classifieds. They also sponsor the TML league (http://metropolis.japantoday.com/tokyo/recent/league.asp). Taking a quick look at the recent edition and I can see one Kanto team looking for players so it shouldn't be a problem. Also check out the Saitama Jets and British Football Club sites for more info
