Never said I held the same opinion of moles. The wife had one removed when she lived in the U.S. (very inexpensive procedure).

I wondered that as well. Not only for appearance, but don't moles possibly become problems if left untreated?.. Is cancer one of the concerns? It seems like I read that somewhere..

I have heard, althought I have no idea if it is true, that Japanese consider nose wart removal to be a very hazardous medical procedure. I have no idea why.

They can become melanomas if not tracked carefully.

The only danger is to their wallets. If a good plastic surgeon can rebuild a face like Beat Takeshi's, filling in a divit created by a wart removal would be a trivial piece of work.

Of course, I'd have that work done in Hollywood or the San Fernando Valley, not Japan.

But that's the problem; if you wait until it's big enough to be a divit, it's you're own fault..

Just tell them that, in South Korea, divits are considered good luck..

Yah, you could get that same great surgeon as Michael Jackson uses... Or any of the ones that have created the messes shown here: Awful Plastic Surgery.

Not saying that Japanese doctors are any better though.

Well, you can only do nose modifications so many times before you run out of bone cartilage.
FG Lurker wrote:Not saying that Japanese doctors are any better though.
They aren't. There's a very good reason why Japanese refuse to have those moles removed here, or ex-Yokozuna Takanohana went abroad for knee surgery.

Yes, but any decent doctor would refuse to perform the surgery.

Sports-related knee surgery is far more complex than most plastic surgery. They aren't even in the same league.

Have a look at the link I provided. Plastic surgery everywhere is more than a bit freaky. There is good stuff available in Japan (I've seen some of the results... ;) ) and bad stuff available too. Same for the US. The surgeons certainly play a role, but no matter how good the surgeon, if the patient wants something that isn't realistic (J cup titties on a 150cm tall petit-bodied woman for example) the results are going to suck.

Off to Costco to pick up some Christmas food. :)

Plastic surgery is Japan is largely unregulated hence the mixed results. ANY doctor can become a plastic surgeon. My wife, who is an internist considered becoming one except she hate cutting people.

My doctor in aus told me that it is only the small flat black moles that tend to become melonomas. The big brown ones, while unsightly, are usually benign.

Also, moles tend to be fed by major veins and arteries so it is not so easy to lop them off as their roots tend to go around the blood source.

Usualy what they do these days is freeze them off with liquid nitrogen but that is a tricky procedure as the doc has to know how to handle it and not burn the surrounding skin. Some plastic work is required as well.

But warts are a skin lesion that can be burnt off with medication. Or for a home remedy, tape a banana skin (white side) onto a wart everyday until it has gone as there are some enzymes in them that will eat them away.

I see.. I am becoming smarter..

But don't a lot of moles start small, then grow over time? If you get em' early, if they're small, it doesn't seem like it would be a problem. I had one removed when I was four because my parent were worried it would grow into some monstrosity later; The doc let me have it as a souvenir.. I think I still have it somewhere, along with my baby teeth.

Personally I'll just stay the way I am... I may not be great looking, but at least I don't look like an inhuman freak either. ;)

Got a Christmas chicken, some freshly baked bread (still hot when I picked it up!), nachos, Pace picante sauce, and some other bits and pieces. No turkey, but I guess we're still in Japan after all... ;) Picked up a Christmas cake at my favorite bakery on the way home. Now time to gorge... :D

True, but any mole that suddenly starts growing fast is a problem and should be looked at.

But warts are a skin lesion that can be burnt off with medication. Or for a home remedy, tape a banana skin (white side) onto a wart everyday until it has gone as there are some enzymes in them that will eat them away.

yeah, I've read that duct tape will do the same, but will smell far less.

Actually, I dated a womyn with a few significant facial moles. Honestly, it was a bit of a shame, she'd be really, really attractive without them, and probably walking around with a totally hot gaijin hipster. As it was, she was cute and with someone of my caliber. Which, I guess was fine. Though, kissing was rather strange, it was like negotiating two noses...

Pictures of Tara Reid's mutilated nipples never cease to amaze and disgust me. She must've had that job done in a back alley in Tijuana.
