I'm getting my ass kicked

Postby canman » Fri Dec 24, 2004 11:10 pm

What a record, crap I don't think I will win any of these games. AK I'm sorry for such bad calls. I was really hoping to give you a run for oyur money. By the way Sports IESPN just released their bowl schedule, and unfortunaltey I didn't see the Utes game. They will have the big four though the Sugar, Rose, Fiesta and Orange.. I was hoping for the Cotton or something else but beggars can't be choosers(sp).

I know! Even though they lost, it was a kick ass game. Wyoming was fired up! Early in the game, they lead 10-0. Then UCLA came back with 21 unanswered points. Late in the 4th quarter, Wyoming got a TD making it 21-17. UCLA crumbled as Wyoming started to believe in themselves. They ran down the clock, then threw a bomb. UCLA corner then got in the receiver's face for a pass interference call. Wyoming gets 1st and 10 on the 16 yard line and throws a TD with :56 to go. So now it's 24-21 and UCLA can tie it with a field goal. Wyoming's defense then comes in ON FIRE and shut 'em down with sacks and hurries.

Yes, it was an upset--and Mr. Sparkle's first loss. :x
Cincy won over Marshall though. :P

No longer the 'bows?

Postby mr. sparkle » Sat Dec 25, 2004 9:10 am

Hey Hawaii are no longer the "Rainbows" - they are the Rainbow Warriors. Hmm...wonder when that happened?

I wish I could have seen it. In another pool I took Wyoming and I'm ashamed of myself for not choosing them here. Of course, there are good teams in the Pac-10 but just being in the Pac-10 doesn't make you a good team.

ISU Prevails

Postby mr. sparkle » Wed Dec 29, 2004 12:26 pm

The Iowa State Cyclones win a close one over Miami of Ohio 17-13. It was an exciting finish--Miami stopped ISU on a 4th and 1 with a chance to go ahead in the closing 2:00 in the 4th. They threw an interception, ending the game.

Oh well, ya can't win 'em all! :?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now onto the Insight Bowl. I'm rootin' fer the Beavers. Let's go OSU! Beavers lead in the first 7-0. OSU again is threatening now with a blocked punt landing them at the Irish 4. Hey T O U C H D O W N ! !

OSU now leads the Irish 14-0

C'mon Guy Jean, help me root for da Beavs!

Hell yeah the Beavers kicked Irish ass! My brothers at Colorado also pulled it off.

Looking bad for the Sooners though. It's 13-0 (early in the 2nd) and the Buckeyes just got a HUGE end around run.

Ohio State first and 10 from the 9.
handoff to the tailback.
Down on the 1.

Touchdown Ohio State
Ohio State 20 - OK State 0 in the 2nd Quarter

OK! You're in! Thanks for playing. If you want to, go ahead and make the rest of your picks starting with tomorrow's games. You'll already be tied with kamome and just hair behind canman  . Seriously, if you guess a couple spreads correctly you could still win the whole thing.

BCU 37-24--Wicked Pissah!

sportsnetwork.com wrote:Andre Callender rushed for 174 yards on 26 carries and scored the go-ahead touchdown, as the 25th-ranked Boston College Eagles defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels, 37-24, in the Continental Tire Bowl.

Paul Peterson, who was named the game's MVP, finished 24-of-33 for 236 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles (9-3), who won five of their final six games. Peterson, who was already playing with a broken right hand, left the contest in the middle of the fourth quarter with a leg injury after being hit while recovering his own fumble.

More!

BCU QB broke his leg. The next play was a fake field goal where the kicker scored a rushing TD from 25 yards out! Good game.

I think my predictions are based on what I new of college football 10 years ago with exception to the Berkeley Bears...

I'm pretty much in the same boat. But I don't feel guilty about losing a game where the two teams going in are 6-5.

Cal Choked

Postby mr. sparkle » Fri Dec 31, 2004 3:57 pm

Dammit! Cal lost to Texas Tech (choke!). Gotta give it to TT though. Those boys play some damn good ball. Gotta give 'em props--great football team them Red Riders are.

My boys at NIU are ahead right now in the Silicon Valley bowl, so if they stand, today's record at 3-1 is still damn respectable.

WTF :?: :?: :?: I know I responded to this already. Man this is my precious thread, I hope it doesn't get mangled! Fuck, it's time consuming updating this game. I hope yall are enjoying the competition! I'm just hoping somebody anybody can send me a vid of any of the following games: Boise State's game, Georgia's game, The Fiesta Bowl and/or the Orange Bowl (hint hint) But anyway it's all up to date now and Sparky still leads. See page two for details. The scoring is designed to keep most everyone with at least a bit of hope even coming into the Orange Bowl so don't worry too much about your present scores. Shit, I missed the Navy spread by one point.

Slightly off topic but related: Congratulations BIG BOOGER on winning the FG fantasy bowl. Also, nice work to the commish: Good work dude, even though the Assassins sucked I had a lot of fun and I'll be back next year to stomp some mudholes!

I always have a great time acting as commish in the FG Fantasy Bowl. Big Booger drafted an awesome team and it was too difficult for me to beat it in the championship game no matter how many educated waiver-wire pickups I made.

I'll start another one next year. If there is any interest, we can buy a league on ESPN and actually play for a little money. If there is any mudhole stomping to do, it will be done by Kanto Krush!

P.S. If anyone wants to see the results of the FG Bowl and the week-by-week results, click here. This was the second year we've done it, and about half the players in the league are FG members. My goal is to have an all-FG fantasy football league one day, but it seems that most of our members have no interest in NFL football or fantasy sports.

Actually, the whole freakin' football day was GOLD baby. We're finally seeing the quality teams now. Lookin' forward to tomorrow.
