Happy New Year everyone!! I hope 2005 brings good things for all FGs hangin' out here.

My resolution this year is to be more organized. It's always been a weakness of mine, I hope to improve dramatically.

Have a great year!

(drunkenly raises glass of nihonshu to all FGs)

Yay! This year is when I leave Japan (my flight is booked on my 11th anniversary of coming to Japan). I'm going to go to London Uni and start studying for the first time at the age of 38! (Japanese Lit and Lang. Done the practice now time for the theory!)

Gonna be one fucked ex-gaijin, haven't lived in UK since 1993....

wish me luck 8O

Happy New Year to all FG's everywhere.

I hope you all get to ring the big bell this year without getting your bell rung in the process!

Happy New Year DJEB! Resolutions? I have a ton of them!

Numero Uno: Getting a Life
-Paying off all my debts
-buying a car of my own.
-getting a better job(or two)
-finding an apartment ( I live with my folks)

On a slightly less serious note:

Number two: Practice drawing more.
Number three: Study Japanese more seriously.
Number four: Lose 76 lbs. (5'10 and 236 lbs don't go together well.)
Number five: Visiting Tokyo.

I hope everyone has a happy new year!

Did anyone watch Kohaku Uta Gassen?

My favorite performance was by a Korean FG.

I don't know her name...could someone post it?

Still 2004 here in Sacramento, CA. BUT

HAPPY NEW YEAR

We still have another 4 hours here. Be safe, have fun, go crazy and make a load of great memories.

Watching Beyond Rangoon with Patricia Arquette. One of my Malay friends was in this film. His name is Jit Murad and he played Sein Htoo. Wierd to see him after all this time.....If you havent seen it yet (1995) it is pretty good. Here is one link about the true story behind the movie..I am sure many of you have already seen it. http://www.greatestescapes.com/index.cgi?view=article&articleid=230&issue=2000-10

As a Georgia boy let me teach you something about the word 'yall'. It is simply a contraction of 'you all'. Nobody uses 'yalls'. Also I've seen 'yall' misused in books used in the singular sense. Nobody who grew up using the word 'yall' would ever use it to address just one individual.

Correct usage

James Brown talking to a crowd of fans. 'How are yall doing?"

Incorrect usage

James Brown talking to his wife. 'Yall got a black eye'.

Not a southern term, y'alls was used quite often where I grew up, in an extremely ghetto-ass town.

Perhaps my resolution should be to forget the bastardized terms I learned there. ha!

....When I lived in Lubock I used to hear 'y'all' used a lot in reference to a single individual, and 'all y'all' for multiple people.

It's been merged with the existing topic. Don't create duplicates of existing topics. The new ones will only get merged or deleted.

AK is right about "ya'll". I hate hearing people use it in the singular. And WTF would Texas know? It's not even the real South.
