Do these kidnapping cases justify the UN to force North Korea to open up?

Kidnap victim's child pleads for visit

Hye-gyong said: ''Because my father is Korean, I don't think I can go to Japan even if my mother was Japanese...I cannot understand why my grandfather and other people do not come here."

I know North Korea is a dangerous country. But considering all the people they've kidnapped (I've heard up to 600 South Koreans), I think their doors should be pried open. If they didn't mess with other people, I'd have no problem with them staying isolated. As it is, they've dragged too many other people into their screwed up situation. I'm not talking about a military invasion, but a concerted diplomatic effort. What do you think?

North Korea is a supremely evil country and I understand why Bush calls it an Axis of Evil.

Read this tale of horrendous torture. I warn you though, this is NOT for the faint of heart. Be prepared to cry or vomit. I cried to read this.

I saw that report earlier today; I barely made it through it. WTF is going on with the prisoners making garments for export to other countries, including Japan?

I'm not sure I understand the question posed by the poll. How does the UN "open up" North Korea? Japan, S. Korea, and the US already are using diplomatic means to bring the country into the global community. What else can the UN do?

Anyway, I do believe that the kidnappings have given Japan leverage to pry N. Korea open to public eyes more than ever before. I mean, I don't think I have ever seen a N. Korean citizen interviewed by reporters from other countries on TV. Yet, the Yokotas' granddaughter was interviewed by the Japanese media for a long time and broadcast abroad.
