The big thing these days with the terminally imbecilic right-wing in the U.S. media is to talk about what a great thing the internment camps were.

I met Bob Matsui when I was a student at Sac State and he seemed like one the few decent politicians.

Havent read that book yet, but I was able to get some information on it just now.

For me, I would need to read the book before I could make a judgement, but then again, I wonder if spending money on it is worthwhile.

Michelle talks about there being a large spy effort on the Japanese side here on the West Coast. Not big news, but when I think back to my friends grandparents and parents, they were not spy's, just hard working people.

Yes, there is always this debate whether or not it was the right thing to do to pay out money. When it comes to money, many people get ugly.

Pete:

What year did you attend Sac State? Were you ever in the Japanese Culture Club there? I had been activities director and President and knew a lot of people. Just curious. That was ages ago though.

Mels,

I graduated way back in '82. Wasn't in the Japanese club but used to drink with a few that were. What year were you there?
I haven't been back to Sacramento since 1985. Has it changed much?

You'd better hold out for an author who doesn't have a bad reputation for misreporting facts unless your intention is debunking.

Hi Pete:

I graduated from CSUS 89. I came to the US in 84, but went to American River College because my credits from University of Maryland did not all transfer (I took courses at Kadena AB in Okinawa). BUMMER, so to save money because I was considered out of state, that is where I began and literally had to do two more years because of it. OH WELL.

Just a quick hisotry-
I left Sacramento in 89-90 to join Kanebo Ltd. Never thought I would ever return to Sacramento. But while living in Malaysia, I found out my dad was sick. He was living and working in Japan with my mom. So, after I found out how bad he was, I left Malaysia to bring him back to the US. So, we all came here in 95. Things did not change much then, but NOW it has.

1. The kings are better than ever, that is enjoyable
2. We have a cheesecake factory, elephants bar and some other new eateries
3. Roseville is BOOMING. They have a new galleria..mall out there now
4. A new indian casino, Thunder Valley open. I dont care for gambling but they have a great rest. 'Austin Steak House'
5. Were you here when the pyramid building was built? It use to be the 'money story', but it is now where Department of General Services is located.
6. They have great Hyatt Regency downtown in front the of the Capital
7. I have seen Arnold at a popular cafe....ummm forgot the name...but that is new.
8. Granite BAY is a great place to live, Folsom has grown tramendously
9. TRAFFIC is really bad because the of population explotion... the infastructure needs to expand.
10. That light rail they put in sucks. I never take it.
11. Sac state has CHANGED. They built a parking garage and expanded the library. I use to work in the Reserve Book Room. Many of the building, such as Engineering, are the same, but some areas have expanded.

I do miss being a FG. Loved being in Malaysia and Japan. I know that there is a reason I am back here....but I kind of died inside thinking I had to live in the US again. I suppose I love being a FG. Right now, it is only mom and I so just picking up and moving is really not an option. If I did land a great ex pat job and the pay was good, I may think about uprooting and returning overseas with mom. But that would have to be in Japan where mom is from.

Anyway, nothing really exciting here. I do work for a Japanese company in Santa Clara and commute twice a week. People think I am crazy, but then again they did not live and work in Japan like I did. Long commutes mean nothing to me LOLOLOL. And working from home 3 times a week is great. I keep my business Japanese going through this company and I just do the best and enjoy my time.

How is it where you are? I am happy I found this site....just getting back to connecting with people who have the same interest and experience I have is wonderful...Actually it is bringing back that need to travel and live/work abroad again. I have never lived in one place for so long.

Yeah, I read up on some information about her. I think my money can be used in better ways then wasted on her book
