taking it easy

Postby kotatsuneko » Fri Jan 07, 2005 11:11 am

i really love FG.

i dont really contribute much, its true, but i love it nonetheless.

theres way too much testosterone/anger flying around of late imho.

one of the good things here is how much freedom of speech there is.

but the recent flames arent doing anyone any good or getting anywhere imho.

even regulars and newcomers who i've never seem flame are getting in on the act.

one of initial protagonists has made some very good posts imho.

can't we forget about personal opinions on posters and concentrate on the news/discussions/help&advice that makes this such a good site?

feel free to flame *me* but seeing this place turn into another youngwankerdudes would be such a damn shame. thats my 10 yen anyhow.

You are too humble. You contribute a lot and your posts are good.

I think I know that of which you speak. ]can't we forget about personal opinions on posters and concentrate on the news/discussions/help&advice that makes this such a good site?[/quote]
It depends on the specific poster I think. If 95% of the person is great and 5% isn't then it is not so hard to ignore the 5% bad and focus on the 95% good. Even if this fell to something like 60/40 it is possible to have good conversations. But when you end up with someone who is 5% human and 95% annoying (or to be generous 20% human and 80% annoying!) it gets hard.

Generally the Ignore Button will block the post and display a "custom" graphic as a replacement such as...

Thanks Taro!! You answered two questions at once -- the 2nd one was WTF's up with those donkey dick messages!

So I can turn Charles into a floppy donkey dick? I feel bad for the donkey but it would improve my view of the forum a lot!

kotatsuneko, thanks for this post! your communication is way better than mine! there is more and more insulting posts where I thought there was an end after all.
I hope GG is going to turn up again soon! I am sure she feels like lead anyways, just because she saw things she wasn't prepared for. She might be the most shocked FG at the moment. And Charles is the most hunted.
this used to be the coolest place to hang around all over Japan. now I stumble at many posts and think about what I can do to stop it? and worse- will I be next?

remember when you told me to hang out at the conbini? That day I wasn't really bored although I told you I was bored as hell. it was more like in so many posts were insults. It was no fun to watch this and I worried both for GG and Charles. and where this would lead to.

In the conbini I got the conbini bag idea. You got me the conbini bag idea :P . You see, this page's people make me think such a damn lot. It is the coolest place I could think of. It was until the tsunami hit.

I don't think anyone is going to attack you vir-gin.

In my opinion one of the keys to not pissing everyone off "en mass" is to not behave like an arrogant jerk who knows everything -- even if do know (nearly) everything about a given topic. Most people figure this out sometime in grade school... Some via common sense, others via getting the shit beat out of them for being a dolt. For whatever reason some people don't ever learn this critical life skill... They go through life genuinely confused as to why they regularly piss people off.

Charles is not stupid. He's had quite a bit of life experience & education and seems knowledgeable about a fairly broad range of topics. If he presented his knowledge with a wee bit more humility he'd be quite popular and very likely gain respect.

I don't know if he is incapable of that or just doesn't give a flying fuck what others think of him or how they respond.

It'd be very interesting to see who has "ignored" who... Kind of like the "friend and foe" system on Slashdot.

You know, for me he just behaves like an artist. All day show and posing. my university is full of people behaving similar to that. That's kind of education. Might not be very decent but you end up like that being surrounded by people like that. yesterday and today we have two artists getting deep into it again. this time it's the hell stupid pride thing. I would love to see their works! both of them! I could learn a lot. It would be fun! But they were not communicating. I am telling off other students and make fun of them, they are telling me off and make fun of me. we all made the experience to communicate with non artists is different and we're being considered strange, self involved, egomaniacs, scary  :D . I think this is cool. cause it is diversity. therefore I love FG cause FG's own cool crazy web pages full of laughter and pure hurting truth  like RobPongi, are adorable like kotatsuneko, and lonely hero's with every link available as taro. every day I meet some cool FG I never met before, they are all characters.

I love FG! And I wanna have fun!

Nope, just friend and foe.

Freaks are people who have added you to their "foe" list. Fans are people who have added you to their "friend" list.

It's not limited to artists. Two other examples that can be very bad in the same way are programmers and athletes. There are many others though.

Too much self-absorption leads to, um, "eccentricities", to put a polite spin on it. Some would call it "head stuck in ass disease".

did you rip out his head? is it still stuck?
I don't know, maybe it is stuck even deeper now than it was before.
I don't think that scaring somebody off, hunting somebody collectively through different posts, make somebody a laugh makes him put out his head and begin socializing. he doesn't harm me. cause I know what is good for me. as everybody does. no reason to waste time and energy on trying to change people. they have to do it themselves. any fair reasonable critics welcome. people behave fair and human if you treat them fair and human. I believe in that. may be naive and stubborn

I've read through all the posts and I think I'd say, "can't we all just get along?"

There are a number of people on this board that I'm none too fond of, but, as vir-jin said, "diversity." A few of the people here who have been fierce opponents on some threads are actually people who I admire and respect (some I've even mailed beer to  :love2: ). Diversity in and of its own is useless. We need interactive diversity. Let's not chase anyone away, please.
