Not really. I saw an Araki show in Chicago, and looked through a few of his books. There was nothing more prurient in his general works than in that online gallery, unless you think there's something inherently more deviant about the pictures where Araki is personally taking part in the action.

The guy who told me the Bjork story made that documentary. There were two producers, one who thought Araki was a dirty old man and the other who thought he was a genius. The documentary had something of a split personality as a result. I saw him speak at the FCCJ a couple of years ago and he was very entertaining. I like his "Tokyo Monogatari" collection

There is a print exhibition at Geidais University museum right now. One of the hanga artists used obviously Arakis photograph above as pattern. All in bloody red and in four different styles. I find this even more remarkable since the Japanese painting on the wall in Arakis picture is also exhibited. But none of Arakis works are shown.

I recognized that picture, there's another version, showing Araki inserting the vibrator.

There's also another picture in that online gallery of someone getting a blowjob. My point is, is that any more salacious than pictures where Araki is getting a blowjob?

I have academic and professional qualifications in photography, it's been part of my career for over 35 years. Do you always go around telling off people who know things you don't know about? For you, that would be a full-time profession. Nobody likes a bitter, ignorant know-nothing.

Speaking of knowitalls, how the hell would YOU know what was in the exhibit I saw? There were hundreds of images, it was a major retrospective, and I looked at thousands of pages of his books. I have seen a representative sampling of his works, as selected by the artist. But you "heard this is his mild stuff" and your secondhand knowledge of his work obviously is more of an authority than someone like me who has seen his "hard stuff." Get over yourself.
