Let's Japan Forums Closing Down

I read their forums daily. Good info over there. I cannot believe they are closing down their forums.. seems rather odd.. I think it is a positive and informative forum...

Almost all the Let's Japan folks are heading over to Japanic. Whether threads will be copied is still up in the air, but it looks like the exodus is almost complete...

Whoa! "Japanic" in gonna be a HEAP-o-Trouble if JapanInc.com is on the ball. :twisted: Terrie Lloyd and company could sue since that appears to be an intended rip-off of the JapanInc "brand". The Japanese Government is on a big "LET'S IP!" drive.

As a frequent but quiet poster on LJ, I'm really sad to see it go. As for Japanic, I don't think JapanInc's got too much of a claim on the name, seeing as how it [the term "Japan Incorporated"] was in extremely common usage before JapanInc even got off the ground (hence its use of J@pan Inc rather than Japan Inc). FWIW, there's even a band named Japanic as well, so I'd have real doubts about any infringement of the J@pan Inc brand...

All the forums were locked last night at 11. There were hundreds of sayonara tribute posts during the last three hours or so and it was the most people ever on line on LJ. Eikaiwa drones all over Japan lost what was for sure the best Japn-ESL centered forums on the net. Peace to Shawn, Chris and Fetus.

I know this is a rather old post now, but how does one post frequently but quietly? By typing fast but not hitting the keys too hard? ;)

Fair enough. I should have said 'somewhat frequent' but by 'quiet' I meant that I posted what I thought were helpful comments or advice when asked for rather than starting arguments or baiting trolls. Plus, post counts were never something I was particularly interested in.

Personally I prefer it when boards don't list post counts. It helps me avoid thinking about how much time I have spent writing posts instead of doing more productive things... :lol:
