On this day, Jan 24, 1972, local farmers in Guam discovered Shoichi Yokoi.
Sgt. Shoichi Yokoi, a Japanese imperial army straggler who lived in the jungles of Guam for 28 years after World War II ended.
Actually he knew very well the war had ended but he didn't have a life to go back to Japan and he enjoyed stealing and sniping at Guamanian people so much that could not give him self up.

Where did you read that he 'enjoyed' living in the jungles and killing people ? Is this a case of waretime Japanese bashing ?

Two years short of the record !

These stories are also why I don't play hide and seek with Japanese anymore.

Yep, he ran a "Survialist School" in Japan after he came out of hiding. He extolled the virues of the human hunt and general Rightist Imperial beliefs. He was a petty criminal made into a hero. Screw him and piss on his grave.

You shouldn't say that. Now you've got my interested. Where is his grave?
