Have I just become more aware of the news or is the murder rate here going way up?

I remember a few years back an American guy telling how wrong I was about Japans murder rate and that there were only two murders a year. 8O
Maybe he was talking about the murder rate for blind one armed midgets with hemorrhoids.

The head nurse of the local ER tells me stories of crimes similar to this happpening in my 'hood (and GuyJean's) all the time. No violent crimes are ever covered in the news. In the same forest during takenoko(bamboo shoot) gathering season, a husband was barbwired to a tree so he could watch his young wife being gang raped. The crime remains unsolved even though everyone knows here knows the bozozoku/biker gang that did it. Sheesh.

Many people don't realise that vigilantism can be gratifying and that motorcycles can burn when gasoline is poured on them and lit. The same thing works with right-wingers' trucks as well.

Of all things, all the kids in the gang turned 20-22 years old this year they stopped riding magically (the same magic that causes all salarymen to put trenchcoats on the same day in the winter). I actually bump into individual former gang members going to their dull jobs now looking looking like gray shells of the their formerly flashy bozozoku selves.
In a way they got their just rewards---they're native zombies of the Land-of-Concrete(tm).

I just called the ER head nurse who also handles the morgue intake. She explaned to me that I did not walk past the dead body. It was on the opposite end of the park more than 1.5 km away. The body was dumped near the German School for gaijin kids in next to the large Chigasaki-Minami park. Monday, the German kids would have found the body for sure. :shakeh:

What make everyone assume that it is murder? I am sure that police will be looking into the suicide angle as it involves a lot less paperwork.

The unemployed 20-year-old woman was arrested for the illegal disposal of a body.

Police said the woman has told them a 29-year-old Thai man fatally stabbed the 32-year-old Thai woman whose body was found in a park in Tsuzuki-ku on Jan. 21. The man left Japan for Thailand the following day and police are preparing to obtain a warrant for his arrest.

First, I walked into a machine gun driveby in front of a Komagome pachinko parlor. Then, several women got dumped in the park next to my apartment in Yokohama. And now this chimpira with a blond gaijin girlfriend(s) gets stabbed down the block from my condo. She-e-e-e-it, these murders keep following me in "safe" Tokyo.8O

The dead guy was a local "character"---nearly as high profile as me.* He got stabbed diagonally across the tracks from my greengrocer. The Yasai-san and most of my neighbors have been asking me all day about what I know about the dead guy's blond girlfriend.
Sadly, I'm waiting for cops to show up to ask me the same thing. I'm getting the impression that maybe the dead guy's live-in girlfriend may have been Japanese, but the blond girlfriend is the only female that the neighbors and I remember seeing him together with on the street late at night.

*Everybody in the neighborhood is assuming the dead guy is the chimpira who lives in the building where the stabbing occurred, but nobody really knows since this happened at 6:30am.

Why would they ask a guy with no hair for comments on a blond?
