This looks really cool! Will have to try this at home. Reminds me of something out of a William Gibson novel.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch. Do you realize what the hell kind of breakthrough it is to simply be able to see any terrain on earth in seconds from your PC? It's like magic straight out of Dungeons and Dragons. Yeah, I said it, computing == magic.

Sorry.. Got confused with my own board.. - http://www.tokyodv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=194

Only the US so far, but pretty nifty; refresh is snappy, details 'alarming', etc.. Find your hometown local store..

Something related from Google.

What do you think I'm doing? ;) The details for Japan, are a little sketchy outside the major cities.. A little blurry.. I couldn't really find our area. And there's no Roppongi Hills.. Must be old maps.

But overall, the thing is friggn' amazing.. I can see people walking near Yoyogi Koen.. Ode to be a tear or ist in the 21st century.. ;)

I found our area but sat-photos are almost useless. However the photos of my boyhood home on Sheridan Rd just a couple mile's east of Ultra's WHOIS address of record were great.

Yep, just around the corner. 1-Chome.. I've been doin' the Tama Plaza for awhile now.. Not a bad place. A little far from where I work though.. :(..

Taro, when you're back at work, save a few close-ups in 'My Places'.. I chose cities I've travelled; Quito, New York, Honolulu, etc.. Then click the locations one after another.. It's like you're flyin', man!.. Zooms out while the earth twists and rotates, then zooms in to the next location.. And there's no refresh time since each location is cached.

It'll give you a woody. ;)

I had to download and have a try. It's not bad. Although I must say it does lack somewhat. I mean Tajikistan has higher res than anywhere in Australia for crying out loud! :(

Dang dude, a Windoze machine is the one thing you won't find at my work. That looks cool as hell though. 8O

My screensaver is FreeFall right now. A real time view of all of the orbiting satellites. Way cool!

Nice idea man. Can you export a QT rather than shooting it off the screen?

My pig- palomino "Quest"

Postby Taro Toporific » Tue Feb 15, 2005 9:51 am

Oh, this sounds like a bad cowboy joke:
My palomino pony "Quest" is so fat he shows up on satelite photos.

Here's my Colorado ranch on the ol' Overland Trail.
Image
Ouerland Trail connects to the Santa Fe Trail just south of the place and I've ridden my motorcycle on the Santa Fe Trail (US 287) all the way to Mexico City and beyond.

As far as Japan, goes, my rice ranch in Shikoku is very blury on Keyhole. Meh.

As I'm back at work and unable to download this & play with it, would someone mind firing up a nice little shot of the city of Saskatoon in Canada?

There is no high res image of Saskatoon, only a name on a blurred background.

That is the high res image! ;)

Consider yourself lucky.. Only the military has high res shots of your little town... Um, wait.. That would be bad.. :?: ...

The image I got was so so....but I could distinctly see the house. AND MY SUV parked in front. Much clearer then Taro's pic. Tried other searches and got decent results. For the next seven days I will be playing on this thing.

Cool find. Thanks!!!
