Mellisa don't take any shit from GJ even though he is a gentleman and let us take refuge at his his site. Ya'll got to know GJ's home state is considered part of Canada by many Americans. And he'd be right behind me claiming we were Canadians if we were in a tough spot

Hi!

Postby Todric » Tue Feb 15, 2005 4:07 pm

I've been lurking forever, and decided to finally say hi. Great site, wish I knew about it when I was still in Japan. I'm no longer a gaijin, but I'm trying to come back. *Sigh* In the meantime I'm in f'ing Jesusland. :( Anyway, hi to all, and when I make it back (permanently, I hope) I owe you all drinks for giving me my daily Nippon fix.

Unless you underwent a gaijinectomy, there's no escape, I'm afraid - even in your own home, in your home town, in your home country, to Japanese, you're always a gaijin.

Anyway, Welcome.

Hiya all..

I've already posted in another topic but thought I probably ought to say something here.

I've been lurking here for a coupla years actually, but finally thought I'd join up and actually post something..

I was living in Tokyo for about 4 years (and various places prior to that) until mid last year when the wife and I moved back to Brisbane. However, things haven't worked out quite the way we hoped, so this year (in the next few months, probably) we'll be moving back to Tokyo.

Anyway, looking forward to having vaguely rational (or not..) discussions with all of you..

hello all,

I'm currently still in college working through japanese 102 and finishing film school. I've been lurking this board for quite some time as the hope of leaving where I am is basically the only thing that keeps me going, and I often need reminders that the world is much bigger than anything I've yet seen.

Because of this I have decied to pursue becoming a JET or something similar upon graduation, and therefore plan to officially reach gaijin status in a couple of years.

(eh I guess a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dim, is better than none at all)

Good luck with your film & Japanese studies - a great combination.

I hope you get to Japan.

that was a cool clip, they perform that song quite differently from how I'm used to singing it.

anyway something I've been wondering about for some time now is the connection between brazil and japan. I vaguely recall runing across some statistics on gaijin in japan that showed there to be a much larger brazilian population than I would have guessed. I wondered if that was true, and if so, why?

Google, and ye shall find ...

History Repeats Itself...So They Say...

Peruvians and Brazilians of Japanese descent (Nikkei Peruvians and Nikkei Brazilians) living in Oizumi are part of a larger group of Nikkei Peruvians and Nikkei Brazilians living throughout Japan. This section will outline the following: (1) Japanese migration to Peru and Brazil beginning in 1899 and 1908 and continuing through the early portion of this century. (2) The return migration of Peruvians and Brazilians of Japanese descent to Japan in the 1990s.

Japanese emigration began in 1868 "in moments of turmoil as the new Meiji government replaced the Tokugawa shogunate" (Gardiner 1975: 23). Having first flocked to the Kingdom of Hawaii and the United States, the Japanese were becoming familiar with eastward emigration by 1899. Thus, when the Japanese government was then "denied the opportunity to send further emigrants to Hawaii and the U.S.," it was eager to look to Peru [and Brazil] as a potential destinations for Japanese (and Okinawan) workers ... more

I'm not a really really badly F*cked Gaijin as I have a few connections out in town that help me get out and about and into a few "No Gaijin" clubs ... but regardless ... I'm still a F*cked Gaijin.

I'm a member of a Break Dancing team and a Promotion company that is starting up here in Okinawa.

So far I'm doin alright ... having a somewhat hard time comunicating with the ladies and clubs n shit but its all good ... it will all come full circle eventually!

Hi Cstaylor and Vir-jin! :)

Sorry AK. Of course i know you too.
You had a Henry Kissinger Avatar before
this pic of our Roppongi Star, right? ^^

If i would have known some other "Unf*cked-Aliens"
like me i could do a F*ckedgaijin-Fanpage with them
with a "Who is your favourite" Vote. All the wanabe
japanese out there could vote and you OG's could
get the real opinion.
