Yomiuri: Daughter finds mom after 31 years
Carolyn Fahrer...was adopted by a U.S. couple in a suburb of Los Angeles seven months after she was born on Feb. 22, 1974, in Fukuoka Prefecture. Her Japanese name was Yoko. According to [biological mother] Hiromi Tanaka, Fahrer's father died in a car accident before Fahrer was born, and Tanaka was persuaded not to keep her baby by her conservative-minded parents. Tanaka took the baby to a special home for infants when the baby was 1 month old...At the time the adoption was being arranged, Tanaka was shown a photograph of Fahrer's home.
