The Government of Japan has pledged to continue funding development projects in Kenya.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on President Kibaki at State House Nairobi yesterday, the Japanese Parliamentary Secretary Keishiro Fukushima said Japan was satisfied with the measures put in place by the government in ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of public projects.
He said his government was particularly pleased with the commencement of Phase Two of Sondu-Miriu hydropower project, which will add another 60 megawatts of power to the national grid.
The President thanked Japan for its support, saying the Government greatly valued the cordial relations between the two countries.
