Postby KORN » Fri Mar 11, 2005 8:59 pm

anyonw know of an english website that tells you about things going on in itabashi-ku? The ward office website is a bit off...

Also, any one know of any cheap japanese classes here - lower-intermediate/intermediate level? I know about the freebie ones that they offer if you live in this ward, but theyre just for beginners....

Last thing - anyone know of a Tsutaya in ikebukuro?

...in case you havent guessed, i live in itabashi... >_< im also kind of a new resident... (to state the obvious... :) )

thank you people!

to say, is there any FREE online maps of Tokyo - not just the central areas. Or even a cheap bookll do. I looked in Kinokuniya the other day but the guy I asked said they only stocked Japanese language maps for the tokyo suburbs. Or, at least, I think thats what he said. I guessed.

free online maps - in english a plus? in japanese OK... (Ill use rikai or something to deciper the Kanji)

Itabashi

Postby Shoukan Lingerer » Fri Mar 11, 2005 9:09 pm

Although it is nearly 2 years since Ilived in Itabashi, there used to be a Tsutaya at the JR crossing just up from the JR Itabashi station. Walk out the Takinogawa side of the station (The Macca's side) & head north past the muma-san bars - walk through the narrow walkway & Tsutaya is directly in front of you!

Also, if you head to the City Office, they have a map in English of what is around there...although I personally walked to Ikebukuro & chilled out there.

There is a public gym halfway between Itabashi & Ikebukuro - I think it is near Kita-Ikebukuro station.

The best part of the area is just by exploring it - especially around Cherry Blossom time! Also, the best damn Chinese food north of Yokohama!!

Good Luck!
Welcome.... to..the machines.....

cheers for that info :)

any idea on Japanese classes?? I went to the Itabashi Kuyakusho the other day and got freebie maps, booklets Japanese language classes leaflets etc.. Theres only a beginner class - Minna no Nihongo 1 - that the ward office offers. Theres other things such as COnversation Cafes etc, but Im more looking towards actual lessons.

Do you know of anything along the Tobu Tojo line? Ive searched the net, and I asked at the ward office, but so far Im still in the dark. looks like theres nothing... :(

means i have to take the trip into central tokyo twice a week, something i wanted to avoid.....
