There are no free doubles or triples in Japan.
Buying a digital camera really pays for itself in Japan. A decent one will give you good images and you only have to develop the photos you actually want.
If you have questions about what digicam to buy, fire away... I'm sure I'm not the only one on here who will have advice to give in that area!

that's a reasonable price...

omae mona wrote:fatslug wrote:i thought itd be a similar price to the `L` size as they are only about 800yen for 2 sets !
Wow, where are you getting that price? Seijo? That's only 11 yen per print. My next question will be... do they do digital too?

I have the 20D... Sold my EOS 3 body and the D60 to buy it. Couldn't be happier!
omae mona wrote:Very happy 20D owner here too.
omae mona wrote:Had the new Kiss been available (or even its specifications) when I bought, I would have given it a serious thought.
omae mona wrote:Now since the thread was about prints originally, I'll ask: is anybody doing digital photo printing at home? I invested in a photo printer recently
FG Lurker wrote:I wish Canon would stop being so anal about putting spot meters only on their upper end cameras.
Hehe, yep, back to the topic at hand... Which printer did you get? Are you satisfied with the output? I am looking at getting a Canon i9910. The quality is spectacular and the cost per page doesn't look too terrible. Especially for larger prints I think it is cheaper than the labs -- actually it is definitely cheaper!
omae mona wrote:And lower end cameras... the Powershot series have spot metering, if I remember correctly. It's us guys in the middle that get screwed!
omae mona wrote:FG Lurker: you're right, large prints are way cheaper when done at home.. I don't understand why labs charge so much. I got a Canon IP8600, which appears to be the same technology as the i9910 (e.g. 8 ink tanks) but limited to A4-size prints. My work is embarrassing enough at A4, so I didn't want to go any larger![]()
omae mona wrote:Thrilled with output once I fixed the problems. Too much goofing around with the printer driver resulted in me double-applying color profile management (in software + in the driver), so pictures were awful at first. Once I figured out what I did wrong, everything became beautiful.
omae mona wrote:If you want to check it out, email me some photos & I'll print & mail them back to you. (hey, everybody, this is not an open invitation for unlimited free printing at the Omae Mona Photo Center!!)

Laced wrote:Am in Tokyo now, but no doubt the FM2 will work out cheaper than back in London.

FG Lurker wrote:How about lenses? I have been building up stuff for quite some time now, mostly L zooms, but these days I am interested in fast primes -- want the 35mm F1.4L but a pretty large purchase last year has kept finances tight recently.
