Thanks for the link to this AFP article. The Japanese term for popping off is pokkuri, and apparently it is a Buddhist term! I wonder if the word itself, POKKURI, could ever migrate to the English speaking world and become a vocabulary word in the future, as sushi and sashimi and karma and nirvana and wasabi have. Like, "pokkuri moment" and " a belief in pokkuri," etc.

Far fetched? If this AFP news article got a lot of play in the English speaking world, people might be primed for the real word: POKKURI.
