Mail Order Firm in Fake Gyoza Scam

This story was all over the news last night. The "fake" gyoza were apparently larger than the real thing and sold with an ordinary supermarket sauce rather than the special recipe. I wonder whether any of the customers actually noticed

POLICE have raided Japan's top mail order retailer after it shipped uncooked dumplings [gyoza] to some 1800 customers using the name of a famous restaurant in Tokyo. Cecile...said it has already refunded some six million yen ($72,600) to dumpling connoisseurs who thought they would get to eat the real thing...The raid came after Niwake, a famous dumpling restaurant in Tokyo, filed a complaint that the mail order firm used the name without permission. Cecile admitted selling the dumplings with the restaurant's name to..."We misunderstood that our company had already received the restaurant's permission," the spokesman said. "We apologised to the customers for the false advertisement," he said.

It is always nice to see a Shikoku firm that has done good. :P

So glad that I know how to make REAL jiaozi on my own now. This shit costs nothing to make and it tastes better than the crap they all sell here (which they cook WRONG to boot)
