Let's Earthquake Prepare!

Postby GuyJean » Sun Apr 03, 2005 11:57 am

Not sure if this was discussed earlier; couldn't find anything in detail... Sooo..

A couple weeks ago, every television channel in Japan was talking about how the 'big one' was bound to hit Tokyo at 'any time'!!! (When economy bad, scare sheep with pollen and earthquakes)

So I ordered this torch, which I think is kind of nifty; Light, reading light, AM/FM Radio, cell phone charger all in one. And it's hand-crank charged!! Sure you can use batteries, but when they run out, just crank it!..

Any other handy little devices you've bought for Armageddon?

that's a cool gadget.

one thing I'm looking for, in the interest of living in japan and being prepared... is some sort of box that you can run into that is re-forced to withstand amazing pressure and damage. it would also have an oxygen tank and a radio inside it. sure, if the box and you get plunged into a crevice in the earth, you're done, but if you're lucky enough to just be in a badly hit area, seems like this kind of box might save you until rescuers could get to you.

so..any one heard of such a crazy thing?

the thing is that many experts belive that the "big one" is so late, the big kobe one might have actually been it. if so, we are good for 200 years or so...

about the gadgets, i personally always have a few bottles of water in stock just in case. because you never know, right?

nice gadget of yours. you didn't mention that it is a LED light to boot...

there are also a lot of very cheap and very small LED flashlights around nowadays. always good to have more than one around, not only for huge emergency, but just in case.

This box has all the relevant features and a few more but I haven't seen one on sale recently.

Yeah, water is a must.. I have bottled water around, but only because I purify the tap water then bottle it..

It looks like that company has a lot of cool little emergency gadgets.. I didn't pay what they're asking though]http://www.tokyodv.com/me/lights.jpg[/img]

Sounds like you want a hard-shelled one of these:

I hear they are surprisingly spacious inside as well.
