Two dudes shot right by my office (I didn't do it)

Postby kamome » Mon Nov 25, 2002 6:21 pm

Hey, just saw a boatload of police and ambulances crawling all over a hotel right near where I work. They were washing the blood off the street after two guys were shot in front of the hotel. More news as it develops.

But you are a Gaijin and you were in the area so you are a suspect...

Here's the Rest-of-the-Story as Paul Larvae would say...

TOKYO --- A gangster was killed and another seriously injured Monday in a shooting on a street in Tokyo's Chuo Ward near JR Tokyo Station, police said.

The police said they arrested underworld boss Naoto Kametani, who fired the shots, and they believe the incident was the result of trouble between rival crime syndicates.

The two men were both shot in the chest around 2:40 p.m. and one of them, syndicate boss Joji Tsurugi, 50, died, they said.
...
The shooting occurred in a crowded area near restaurants and a hotel some 200 meters from the Yaesu exit of busy Tokyo Station.

Tsurugi's gang is under the umbrella of the Kobe-based Yamaguchi-gumi, Japan's largest underworld organization. Kametani's gang is also under the Yamaguchi-gumi..

FOR SURE! I walked into a drive-by and managed to get the licence plate number of the shooters' car. The cops questioned me for 5 hours on the assumption I did it even though I was the one who came to them with the info.
Sheesh, the cops already had known me in the neighborhood for 3 years and they held me in confinement like a common criminal. Arrg.

ANYWAY, get all the lurid details here: http://mdn.mainichi.co.jp/news/20021125p2a00m0dm029000c.html

Well it's nice to know that I have Yakuza operating right under my nose. I feel less secure here than I did in gangland LA. By the way, the picture in the Mainichi Shimbun article is almost exactly like the view of the scene I had from the window of my office. Pretty nifty, eh?

In L.A. they'll just shoot you cause they got bullets left. At least in Japan gangsters only kill each other.

...and that's why, long ago, I learned not to help the police unless they come to me first... Japanese or American.
