Sick of Point Cards!

Postby dingosatemybaby » Tue Apr 05, 2005 4:17 pm

Dingo was going through is wallet and counted eight of the mofos, and some of them are thick, credit-card-like plastic, so they're real wallet fatteners. So I tossed 'em - figure they induce spending at least as much as they save anything, especially the Tower Records card.

(Okay, dingo feels better now. He'll go lick his pud for a while.)

The point cards for the camera stores are very worthwhile. Subway too. But the rest are usually worthless. I had a grocery store card once and I think I had to spend something like 10,000 dollars on it before I got a 1,000 yen back.

Bic Camera, and starbucks (if you buy beans) are like the only ones that I can say are of good use. I guess you just have to weed out the crap, and keep what you use often. I have this one for an art materials shop here in town, and I swear to god I forget it on my desk eveytime I go there..

I see these point cards more as a way to reward loyal customers and increase business. Of course if you are a loyal customer it makes sense to use their point card. If you're a cheating two-time disloyal bastard then go tell them to shove their cards elsewhere.

What annoys me though is that I am continuously bugged for point cards everywhere I go, when I really couldn't give a toss about them.

I was hoping FG was going to issue a point card.

Or a a super-special FG Visa card. Dingo gets a red rocket just thinking about the pride he'd feel flashing that at the posh eateries and upscale hotels he frequents.
