'kay so shit title, but thought it may be nice for a debunking thread for the curious. please note that the thread is purely for debunking, not knowledge dick swinging or flames.

my question is:

Is it true that stores with point cards sell the goods at artificially high prices, which can be slightly offset by "reward points"?

I disagree with Dr. Freeman. If we're talking Bic Camera, yes, there's a definite markup on items. The idea is that everyone pays a slightly inflated price, and then only though who collect the points can offset that higher price.

If you want to save money on electronic goods, try kakaku. You'll notice that prices are generally 5~10% cheaper than Bic.

If you're shopping for a customer, pay with cash at Bic and collect the full 10% on points. I ended up with a couple of new hard disks after a lengthy project for one customer, and those points purchases don't affect your accounting because you spent no money on them. :!:

well, actually the "bunka" in the title was meant as a pun on bunka/bunker so.. its a free for all really. thought it may be of some interest for readers old and new, or perhaps not? (i do try, tho some may label me as "trying" :wink: )
