Well, I showed it to a Japanese person and she couldn't understand it - hee, not a good sign. But you got a B for giving it the old college try.

Actually, if you must use Japanese for insults, only use the standard phrases, sparingly. IF you want to intimate, use 4-letter English at high speed and force.

Four-letter English is well understood because of the movies and it carries all the intimation of 50 year history of tough guys of Bogart, Clint Eastwood, et al.

Of the other hand, gutter Japanese coming out your mouth is just "cute", according to my J-friends.

Phrases like "Yippie-ki-yay, mo' fo'!!!" have emptied many a Yak-snack for me in the past 20 years a lot faster than any of my guttural Kochi/Kansai-ben.

For example, Kuso... Kono-yarrrrrrrrro! which sounds as silly-cute as Omae no kaachan wa debeso (very roughly, Yo' mama wears army boots).

Actually,
When I've used that yarro with the rolling R.
I got a signifant reaction.

This dude thought he was tough cuz he had his friends with him and he started talking shit (in Japanese) cuz he had liquid courage.

I started rolling my head eyeing the guy up and down and doing that stiff legged walk like the yakuza do when they are angry and about to fight.

Then I started talking about him and calling him names and told him I'd kill him.

The guy started to talk shit some more, but his buddies had backed up REAL far.

The funny thing is, he was a chimpira (sp?) a minor thug in the local area.

Me? I just a BOKU/boy kind of guy---I'll use WASHI/old-fart before I ever use ORE/badass.

It's always the chimpira that cause trouble. Real Yat-chan are just businessmen]yakuza[/i]wise.

Oyaji: If you look anything like that guy Bob Sapp from Pride (and judging from your self-description, you do), you could say just about anything and get a scared reaction from the Japanese.

In most cases, Taro is right: using guttural Japanese doesn't work unless you are REALLY fluent. Frankly, I don't know what Otaku Supreme was trying to do by using Japanese to insult someone without even knowing how to speak the language.

Taro, you know whats funny?

I NEVER have used boku or washi.

Among friends and family, I always use ORE. To In-Laws and superiors, (bosses, various sensei) I use watashi.

Also, my nick name in Japan is TARO.

As for Bob Sapp, never heard of him till you mentioned him, so I looked him up.

I'm taller, better looking, wear glasses and a goatee, sometimes bald (summer)
And not as muscled. not close. But not in bad shape.
Same Birthday month too. He is just a little younger than I. like 10 days. or a year and 10 days. depending on the website I saw.

But my pride is my voice. I can take it low as James Earl Jones or as high as a chipmunk. Of course I dont use the chipmunk to intimidate. I use that to get laughs from ladies and students. I mean, someone my size, and a voice that high.

And yeah, you're right, I could pretty much intimidate anyone.

Anyone but my wife. Heh, she is the only one in my life I've never been able to intimidate. And THAT is why I respect her so much. She has GOT to be crazy. So I dont piss her off. :)

Ok, that sounds sort of logical. Normally however, it's better in Japanese to be very enryo-ish (stand back reserved) about ones own existence and suffer fools quitely. But you can try these fun phrases...

Eat shit!--Kusu wo ku da na!
Butthole!--Ketsunoana!
Stupid shithead!--Baka[Aho], kuso atama!
Shut up you noisy idiot!--Urusai, kono bakayaro.
Hey lowlife, are ya wanking? --- Oi! Omai wa onani o shimasu ka?

Ok, come on all you henna FG, what are your favorite Japanese put-downs?
Hey, "American Oyaji", I bet you got a few choice Japanese phrases in your ammo belt, don't ya? 8)

Bullfinches!

Postby Taro Toporific » Fri Jan 17, 2003 9:47 am

Otaku Baja with CHICKEN wrote:"for the massive inside" is a phrase that has its roots in the junglist movement and drum'n'bass music. no one knows exactly where the usage of "inside" while MCing over drum'n'bass originated (probably with the first Jamaican DNB DJs in the late 80s/early 90s), but it's pretty common now. I.E.

Ya shittin' me. 8O I googled"for the massive inside" and got zip, zero, nada, zen zen nai.

I figured you were full of bullfinches*, aka usotsuki, so then I tried "for the massives" and ATTA. Bling-bling bingo! Ya learn somethin' every day.

So what's with the black beans with tacone rice, cilantro, and salsa, aka "baji w/chicken"? Don't you know that Japan is The Land without Spice?

*the word "lie" and "bullfinch" are homonyms
