Only Japan would accept a foreign country telling it what to do. Try to see if France ever takes advice from America. They would say "we have no lessons to learn from...". Think China would take advice? Canada? No, only Japan lays down and plays dead.

Until Japan stands up for what it believes in (which may not be much anyway) America will continue making demands.

Japan is so dociled and passive that it is scary.

Differences

Postby Gaisaradatsuraku! » Tue Nov 26, 2002 10:06 am

Also there are many differences between the two countries you mentioned (China and France) and Japan. Of these three countries, only Japan is directly defended at America's cost. That, of course, is Japan. Although Japan does contribute to paying the bills of the US military in Japan, the amount doesn't come close to 100 percent of the cost. That is a great deal. America sells Japan the world's best defense at a price less than cost. China, on the other hand, pays for its own military and, actually, has to watch out for America because if it fights a war it will likely be with us (or indirectly with a country that is supplied by the US).

As for France, that is a pathetic excuse for a country. When the Nazi's came the Frogs gave them Fromage and a tour instead of a fight. I don't know how anyone can even stand being French. They are the biggest embarrassment to the West topping even Portugal.

Didn't they have to take some sort advice in order to join the WTO?

Jack wrote:Canada?

Since some of the 911 crackpots came to the US through Canada, hasn't there been some sort of policy change on Canadian immigration? (This is a real question. No sarcasm!)

Jack wrote:No, only Japan lays down and plays dead.

I don't think they're 'playing' dead; They really ARE dead. They're playing alive..

I agree that Japan needs to be strong in order to come out of it's self-made economic mess, but it's shown time and again that it's incapable of doing it on it's own. Japanese can't fire Japanese. Gaijin fire Japanese, and are often times able to rebuild a healthy company.. (Nissan!)

Your attitude is exactly why people hate America. First of all, Canadians have no economic lessons to learn from Americans. You can keep your economy and crime to yourself. Japan would be well-advised to always stand up for its rights and not let a foreign country tel it what to do. Americans know nothing. Sorry, they think they know, but in actual fact know nothing. I would like to ask the American public to see whether or not they know if Japan is north or south of the equator.

Secondly, English was spread by Britain, not Americans. Last I saw Americans were also of British origin. anyway, you are a bit too full of yourself and too self-satisfied. Eat some humble pie it will do you good.

GuyJean,

To answer your question, Canada's economy is very closely tied to that of the US and some major parts of our border is unprotected. You can basically walk across to the US without anyone ever asking you a question. For that reason, and in order to prevent the free movement of terrorists, Canada did tighten up its immigration policy. However, while Canada takes no advice from Americans, at times it is only logical to hep our greatest economic ally.

Just because my friends cannot tell me whether or not I can marry that beautiful Japanese girl, it does not mean they cannot give me advice on other matters and I will be thankful for it.

My real point of contention is that Americans always think their way is the only way. I find them arrogant and ignorant. They should just sut up and learn frm others sometimes.

Yeah, I don't think it would be possible to completely close such a long border.
Jack wrote:Just because my friends cannot tell me whether or not I can marry that beautiful Japanese girl, it does not mean they cannot give me advice on other matters and I will be thankful for it.

So it's ok for the US to give 'advice'?

Jack wrote:My real point of contention is that Americans always think their way is the only way. I find them arrogant and ignorant.

I know plenty of Canadians that think their shit don't stink. Why do some Candadians travel with the Canadian flag sewn on their bags?.. Isn't it so they aren't to be mistaken for (GASP!) Americans.
Jack wrote:They should just sut up and learn frm others sometimes.

America is made up of 'others'. Again, I'd like to see how different Canada would be from the States if it ALSO had 280 million people..

Oh, and don't let Gaisa work you up. He's only here to piss people off.

I suppose it is not taking advice but working together to solve a problem.

Actually, it is well-known in Canada that many Americans use the Canadian when they travel abroad so as to avoid anti-American sentiments. They think that Canada being a peace-loving country no one would hurt a Canadian. So you may find that many of those sporting the Canadian flag are not Canadians.

America is made up of 'others'. Again, I'd like to see how different Canada would be from the States if it ALSO had 280 million people..

Good point. I don't know and that's hypothetical. The fact is We don't go around lecturing others like Americans do except for China when our Prime Minister goes there always brings the stupid human rights issue to the table for Canadian domestic consumption. And the Chinese politely tell Canada to go stuff yourself.

Oh, and don't let Gaisa work you up. He's only here to piss people off.

Thanks for that advice.

Jack, Jack, Jack

Postby Gaisaradatsuraku! » Wed Nov 27, 2002 3:08 am

Jack,

You are absolutely raving. I can only imagine that you have had some negative experience with some Americans and you are convinced we are all out to get you. Talk about your major bigots. How can you even say with a straight face you think Americans are ignorant. Our colleges are filled with you Canucks trying to learn something.

As for Canada being a peace loving nation, hey, free loading is the way to go if you can do it. Of course its the cowards way out and what separates your politicos from the Brits who at least have a platform and will stand up for it.

As for saying that no Western nation should comment on human rights abuses and anti-democritization efforts taking place in China. Sir, you are mad. China is developing rapidly and it is in the world's interest to see that behemoth join the 21st century and bend to the will of its own people. In case you have not noticed here is a gem for you: Did you not realize that capitalist democracies do not war with one another? Wouldn't it be great to bring China into that fold? No, of course not. Let's just ramble on and echo the words of morons such as Mahatir and proclaim that crackdowns are "Asian Values" that whitey just doesn't understand.

Sorry if you had a bad experience in the past with some Americans but Jesus you need to grow up. Frankly, Canada is the 51st state anyway so why all the whining? Eh?

Hey thanks!

Postby Gaisaradatsuraku! » Wed Nov 27, 2002 3:45 am

I was hoping another dumb Canuck might walk into that comment. Excuse me but how much does Japan spend of its dwindling GNP on defense. How much? And, how much does the US spend of its GNP defending the Free World? How much?

Yeah, go look that up.

And also consider that Japan gets a first rate defense. No country can attack Japan because they would be attacking the American military directly (i.e., suicide). Pretty good f*cking deal. I wish I could pay my rent like that.

Frankly, Japan is an abject free rider when it comes to defending the capitalist, democracies.

As for your charming comments about the deplorable rapes, please, spare us. All of us lament this and those ragged ass soldiers are a very minor exception. Boorish behavior is nothing new for our military but in general our soldiers have no trouble attracking the local ladies which is a testimony to something. Maybe you have a problem because Buford Buttfuck from Alah-Bah-Ma snagged your girlfriend from you. Well, a stupid American is better than a Canuck anyday (or whatever you are).

In addition, compare how the Japanese soldiers acted when they conquered a country. Gang rape was officially sanctioned and murder as well for those who resisted. How many Japanese soldiers went on trial for that? Children were frequently the victims and the Japanese government still denies it. Well there's some "Asian Values" for you. Imagine how you would feel if you were Chinese.

Like it or not, the American occupation and continued defense of Japan has been a resounding success. Japan has been transformed from a hysterical nation of emporer worshippers hell bent on killing every one not part of the master race to harmless exporters. Also, like it or not the Japanese are, in general, fascinated by America and admire us like no other nation. While, like some of you poor scallywags, sometimes that admiration vents itself in petty jealousies we, as Americans, can overcome this and turn you pathetic foreigners into busy worker bees improving the quality of live as you go along.

Just follow our lead and Iraq is next.

Have a nice f*cking day.

Not only with a straight face, I say it seriously. Prove me wrong. In a National Geographic survey, 12% of Americans did not know where the US is on a map and onloy 20% of Americans knew where Japan is on a map. 40% of Americans do not know where Canada is on a map.

Under 5% of Americans can name another world leader's name other than Saddam Hussein.

When Americans travel abroad, they talk in feet and miles to people who have no clue what those are.

Would you like me to go on?

of course, the Americans who can find Japan and Canada on a map are thankfully out doing something rather than answering a National Geographic survey. Come on, we don't need to resort to surveys to prove how many idiots are in America, just be glad you're not one of them

So knowledge of geography equates intelligence? Let's also keep in mind these surveys were given in English, and a LARGE part of Americans don't speak English as their first language.

Are you using the stats from the recent National Geographic quiz given to 18 to 24 year olds? If you are, I guess you think all Americans are 18 to 24?

http://geosurvey.nationalgeographic.com/geosurvey/templates/question_1.html

Hate to burst your bubble, but I took the test, and got 100% And I'm one of those dumb-ass Americans.

I also find the lack of geographical knowledge startling, but I don't expect to be berated by Canadians and Australians for it. Drink a beer, mate and take off, eh..

And where did a lot of those 'other world leaders' get their university education? Australia? Canada?

Actually, I have a question: What's Canada's history regarding the native indians? I don't know much about Canadian history.. Was there a slaughter of the natives like in the States? Or were the British and French welcomed with open arms? (Again, serious question).

No need to rush to the answer. I'm going to bed now..

No there were no such mass slaughter (from a modern point of view) of native Canadians. In fact, one such act of slaughter and the history books call it a "massacre" happened in the outskirts of Montreal where 60 Indians in one village were killed. Generally speaking the fur trade was the sticking point because native Indians being closer to nature objected to the Europeans' unlimited want of fur that depleted fur-bearing wildlife.

Indians did not receive the Europeans with open arms. There were fighting, and for good reason, as we were about to take their lands. However, we have large native Indian communities outside of major cities in Canada like in Montreal. In Northern Canada some native bands control a huge part of the country. The government of the province of Quebec pays huge sums of money to native Indian bands on whose land it has built large hydroelectric dams.

However, if you ask native Indians I am sure their answers will be much different and perhaps they can point out to acts of injustices they suffer that we do not see from our vantage point. Not many of them, however, are interested in Japan and as such may not read this forum.

Postby Gaisaradatsuraku! » Sat Nov 30, 2002 12:01 pm

You know you are both two prize ass holes. You think America is full of ignorant people? Is that right???????????? Which country's citizens win the most Nobel Prizes? Which countries Universities are the leading institutions in Science and Medicine? Yes, you ass hole, the answer is America.

And these are the same Americans who don't know or care where the fuck Canada or Australia is. Do you know why we don't care? It's because Canada and Australia are meaningless countries. That is why.

Both of you clowns seem obsessed with America. Maybe you are just jealous of America. Or, maybe in Jack's case he is interested in coming to America to get decent healthcare. Isn't it a fact, Jack-Off, that the cities of America that border on Canada are filled to the brim with Canadians seeking decent medical care. Yes, the same America that allegedly is in a health care crisis. Well, even though for us it is a crisis its better than that Canadian crap.

Both Canada and Australia can thank America for their freedom. Here's an American saying Fuck you to you punk ass wannabees who can't make it in your own countries. You two are both backpacking losers from countries who sell mainly paper and coal. You are the descedents of toothless webfooted morons.

Duh....

Actually I was not referring to all Americans. I just found it ironic that you happened to make the statement:

How can you even say with a straight face you think Americans are ignorant.

as you are the poster child of the ignorant. The fact that you happen to be american is beside the point IMHO.

How you can take personal credit for the success of your fellow citizens amuses me. Stop trying to skate through life on the coat tails of others and rely on your own skills and talents. Take personal responsibility for your actions and words and then we can have a decent discussion.

There is good folks and bad folks everywhere irrespective of nationality, race, religion, gender. Making generalisations makes great copy and steals bandwidth on forums like these - however the discussions are moot.

You say that other countries are meaningless - I think that your comments are meaningless as you have shown no pearls of wisdom - rather just the putrid and fermented regurgitation of tired old rhetoric that you obviously gather from tabloids and beer halls.

Live dangerously and have an original thought for a change. I dare you.

Canada sucks?

Postby canman » Sun Dec 01, 2002 10:20 pm

Ok Mr. Guest, and Gaisaradatsuraku!. I'll let you rant for a while, but I would like to ask you one question. Have either of you ever visited Canada, or Australia for that matter. I don't want to get into a screaming match with either of you, because as Gomigirl mentioned an argument like this will never settle anything. I don't particularly care for the US, but I don't hate it. I do think that Canada is a kinder and gentler place, but for the two of you to say that Canada sucks, and that we are useless, I really think you should check your facts first. We have been and will continue to be your largest trading partner, and in most cases, chief cheerleader. So go ahead and rip me a new one now!
