Ganguro Madness

Postby Ptyx » Fri Apr 22, 2005 12:50 am

Something awful : Ganguro Madness
We've made fun of some ridiculous fashions, some outdated fashions, and some intentionally goofy fashions, but never before have we witnessed such truly horrific style. In this installment, Zack and I are faced with our most spine-chilling challenge yet: the twisted world of the ganguro.

O L D . .

I think I saw that guy in the photo on TV a few days ago.
As fucked up as Ganguro fashion is in every complete form, I have to say it is even MUCH worse on guys. If that is the same guy I saw on some variety show the other day, he's married with a kid mentioning that he did it as an expression on his stress.. If so, that is some pretty fucked up therapy, damn, get a fucking hobby..

Are you sure it is the same guy?

No I am not being trollish - the ganguro's seem to try to be indistinguishable from every other ganguro [0]. I saw a group identical looking guys (to this dude and each other) on my local subway not so long ago.

They all had their A4 mirrors out fixing their hair and makeup on the ride through to Shibuya - just like the girls!!

It is such a bad look!!!

[0] I wonder if this is so their mothers or bosses can't recognise them in the street or whether they are trying to hide behind the ganguro look to hide their own identity from themselves? Freud eat your heart out!!!

That Alba Rosa stuff is quite expensive isnt it?

I like how they brighten up the generally drab way you see the japanese population attired... but I wouldnt want to lick their faces :puke:

They are now just getting around to posting a story about this (for the most part) dead fashion trend? Wow, those guys are really on the cutting edge. Where were they 6-7 years ago when this horrible trend started? Proably covering some other ancient trend as some new discovery.

He did. ;)

It wouldn't be my choice, yours neither from the sound of it... But hey, whatever floats his boat!

He even helps relieve everyone else's stress too -- we all get to laugh our asses off when we see him wandering around looking like a complete freak.
