I have a chance to go teach english in china for two months (mainland, Haerbin or Guangzhou).

the offer is:

2 month gig
apartment paid for
16-20 a week
4000 RMB a month.

will I be able to have any fun on this kinda money? or will this just feed me?

Its not a hell of a lot, You can get by fine, go to a few partys, but dont buy any food or drink that is foreign. Also be warry taht many chinese if they see a foreigner hey will double or triple the price, even they have the nerve to say to you becuase you are white.

4000 is only like 80,000 yen. even 20 hours a week you would be expecting 125,000 yen a month.

I think the 4000 was per month. With the current weak US$ it is only about 50,000/month. Ouch.

Yeah your right, he should ask for the Yen up front and exchange it himself. (dollars or sterling would be better because you can trade it easily and get bonus interest if you find hte right place)
