What do you all carry in your backpacks, messenger bag, briefcase etc etc.

I always have pen and paper, misc. work shit, my digital camera, tissues, water free hand-wash shit, fold-up umbrella, electronic dictionary, a leatherman pocket tool (get your mind out of the gutter  ), a drink of some sort (sometimes pretty old), a couple of band aids, and some misc. bills I haven't gotten around to paying at the con. store 8O

Well actually they are Christians as they base their beliefs off the teachings of Christ. They are Latter-day saints which is a spew off of Protestants.

No, Mormons are a cult like Catholics, Jehova's Witnesses, and the Manson Family.

I just got back from a visit to Tokyo and I used a black north face backpack the whole time. Sorry for adding to the gaijin sterotype guys! Here in California I use a timbuk2 small messenger bag. Typical contents: bic pens, moleskine notebooks, condoms, digital camera, dunhills, lighter, mints, litre of water, ibuprofen, sunscreen, latex or nitrile gloves, smallest swiss army knife, compact north face goretex windbreaker/rainjacket, hat(s), whatever book i'm reading, keys, cell phone. Sometimes my ibook (which has its own padded sleeve bag).

Image

Timbuk2 isn't the hippest brand anymore but the damn things are really durable, quite waterproof and it's a local company (SF) so I still buy them. I saw them for sale at Tokyu Hands so I guess they aren't totally unfashionable to the Japanese.

Blah Pete wrote:I have a briefcase type bag with shoulder strap accessories to turn it into a backpack. Shoulder straps hide away in a zippered compartment so it looks like your regular work/briefcase bag that you can carry into a meeting.

I had one of these and here's a tip for hot Tokyo days when you have to do some walking around. Often on this type of bag, the compartment where you can hide away the backpack straps is on your backside when you are wearing the bag in backpack configuration, take one of those reusable blue icepack things and put it in that compartment! It sits on your back and instead of getting a sweaty back, you stay nice and cool (but apparently look like a gaijin since you'll be wearing a backpack: guess what, most of us look like gaijin anyway!).

Yes, the fact that I actually used to do this on occasion when living in Tokyo makes me a wimp. But at least I don't wear briefs. Boxers with suits, commando at all other times.

I know they have different straps depending on the size of the bag, but I don't remember if they are replacable or just adjustable for length. You can indeed get the bags in all sorts of different colors, even custom picking them if you want. And some wacky prints too. The bags come in various sizes, ranging from handy to too damn huge for anyone who isn't a bike messenger. http://www.timbuk2.com

Yeah.. that's why I only use mine when I need to carry stuff around (usually books). I'm gunna get one for going to Japan simply because I'll want to have a good way to carry a LOT of stuff around.. and backpacks generally allow for the greatest volume.

In a recent ep of the simpsons - bart and homer nearly convert to catholicism - rev. lovejoy, marge, flanders and few others dont like the idea - and want to put a stop to it...

as a catholic (who has been to mass 5 times in the last 10 years) with both catholic and protestants friends - the storyline seemed too unrealistic for my liking (cause its not in that funny way) - this is someone who prefers family guy for the very reason that its more fucked up than les simpsons...

as for catholics being a cult - (apart from it being the original: before all the off-shoots) i reacon the catholic numbers (especially if you factor in latin-america and africa) far exceed those of a few mormons and protestants that you mainly only find in the UK, parts of the US and then Gemany and Holland making it the most mainstream of all.. unless its a joke - haha - i get jokes

As far as the interesting underwear thing goes I wear boxer briefs too. Most comfortable. Wearing regular boxers and riding a bike is an invitation for disaster. Dont wanna squish the family jewels!!

Love girls in T-backs. Theyre so sexy. Yet, girls wearing no underwear is even sexier :D

Are you a mormon?

lol, Mormon? Are mormons even allowed to love girls in T-backs? Guess I shoulda added more than just other shit, my bowl, some smoke, and a video camera 8)

I had a Mormon buddy that told me about some of the shit that goes on when they do their two year missions. They do a lof of the same kind of crazy shit that young people away from home do for the first time do.
