Hmm, I think the AK school of logic will suggest you sprout wings and fly. :D Just make sure you don't get tired.

I guess I enjoy bear bating. Or in AK's case, Care Bear bating.

That sounds like a wordy definition for "troll" to me. :P

I've never typed a single word on FG that I didn't believe in at the time of typage. And that's the truth. I never trolled FG. But I am a master troll. Fuck, I trolled the 'untrollables' at botfly's site. Ha!

Back on topic. I saw a great accident on Friday. Some car was pulling out of an intersection to make a turn and along came female cyclist traveling at a high rate of speed and not apparently interested in the road in front of her. The collision sounded like a bag of milk hitting the pavement and her keitei flew away at escape velocity. Call it schadenfreude but I found it hard to contain my grin.

bag of milk
:?:

I have a funny bike accident story. It was back when I was living in Portland. I had been out on a date with a girl I had huge crush on. We were drinking and having fun at a bar. I was really jazzed cause I finally got a kiss goodnight. Then when I got home I realized I forgot my bag at the bar so I called them up. They told me my bag was there but they were closing. I had ten minutes. So I hopped on my bike. I had this cool as Hell zebra striped beach cruiser. My drunk ass flew around this turn and the next thing I knew I smashed right onto the hood of a parked car! But it wasn't empty. These hippie kids were in the car getting high. They must have been shroomin' or something as well because they seemed totally sure it was their fault. One guy came out yelling 'We're sorry!' and the other was like, 'Don't move!' Someone from an apartment window above yelled for us to be quiet and he said, 'Hey! This is important!' I was fine though. But my bike was totalled. They helped me carry my back home and even loaded me a couple bong hits at my pad. I propbably scratched the side of their car pretty good but they were too cool to care. I got my bag the next day.

Did you know that "Bicycling-with-open-umbella" is illegal in Japan?
I didn't.
Maybe the Japanese police are too busy with enforcing the Bicycling-while-gaijin law.

I don't know what happened, but I do know that your linked artcile doesn't say what you wrote above.

The article says that the bike was hit by a van and that the van came out of a small side street without stopping (tobidashita).

Forget about the Van for a sec, in Japan there are differnt laws so just because you cycle in the USA or drove a Car in Germany it doesn't mean all the rules were the same.
The vid seems to slightly indicate that both were at fault, just because some salaryman smash his car into a gaijin bike doesn't mean the salaryman is at fault...cyclists get less benefit when it comes to the rules, check the video link

plus some other story said she appears to be riding the bike the wrong direction up the street

I drive and/or cycle in Japan pretty much every day. At one point I rode 200km or more per week -- unfortunately I'm not in that kind of shape these days though.

I can see the video but I can't hear the sound while I am at work. I actually didn't notice it was a video link until you pointed that out just now.

Yeah, unless he spun the bike around when he hit her she was riding the wrong way and that drives me nuts. Still, the guy in the van must have hit her damn hard to launch the bike sideways (and almost certainly airborne) across two lanes of traffic.

I actually did. They told us about 100X during JET orientation. I think it's also illegal to cycle while holding shoping bags in your hands.

It's also illegal to ride double on a bike -- or a small scooter.
