Japan heading for cool, comfortable summer
Mainichi Daily News, May 22, 2005
Northern and eastern Japan will have cool weather in June and a summer possibly less sultry than usual because of cool air caused by high atmospheric pressure over the Sea of Okhotsk off Hokkaido, weather officials have said.

The Sea of Okhotsk didn't produce high atmospheric pressure last year and, as a result, major cities such as Tokyo and Osaka saw record-level summer heat.

Officials of the Meteorological Agency said that the Sea of Okhotsk high atmospheric pressure appeared in early May, two to three weeks earlier than average.

Influenced by this, the northern and eastern Japan regions had cool days 3 to 5 degrees Celsius lower than normal in mid-May.

(Full Story)

After the hellish tempertures from last year I really hope this story is correct. Damn it was HOT last year!
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

I hope that's true! :o
Last year I had to move the pc closer to the a/c so it wouldn't over heat.

You Kanto and Kansai people will get your fair share of heat. We poor suckers up north are going to have a rotten summer. I'd rather have heat than three months of cold and rain. This looks to be similar to the first year I was in Japan 12 years ago. That year we never had a summer. Rainy season never ended and no rice grew. Or at least that is what the farmers said so they could jack up the price of gool old Japanese rice.
