Shenzhen Daily: Japanese girl dies as taking Chinese slimming pills
Slimming capsules produced by a Guangzhou-based online sales company were blamed for the death of a Japanese girl, reported an official Japanese Web site. The girl had lost 13 kilograms in two months after she took the capsules. She passed out in her own room May 23 and was confirmed dead in hospital the same day. The Web site reported there had been 44 complaints until Wednesday morning. The product contains a medical component that can produce serious side effects like dizziness, vomiting, and dehydration though it is effective to inhibit appetite and treat obesity. Online sales agents were asked to stop selling it in Japan.
