Drug peddlers nabbed for growing cannabis in mountains
Mainichi
SASEBO, Nagasaki -- Two men who planted about 1,300 cannabis plants in a secluded mountain area here have been arrested, police said.

The men, identified as Hideyuki Ezaki, 55, and Yoishiyuki Nishiguchi, 49, were arrested on suspicion of violating the Cannabis Control Law. The pair allegedly grew the plants over an area of about 4,400 square meters with the intention of illicitly selling them.

Investigators accuse the pair of illegally growing the cannabis in two places, including on 1,700 square meters of land the municipal government owns in Sasebo...more...

That comes to around 14,000 yen for an eighth of an ounce. I don't know current street prices but that would seem a bit high.

That's pretty steep; I think it'd be around 5 ~ 8,000. The 'officials' usually pump up the value to make the bust sound more impressive.. That or their suppliers are screwing them.

How are things in the forests of weed? No time for the KGB at the moment, but those were the prices when I used to buy bulk.. No idea now.

the herbal funk

Postby Mini_B » Fri Jun 10, 2005 4:36 pm

I heard that if you wanted to buy a gram in Japan the cost was about 10,000 JPY...which is ridiculous. In Florida you get at least an ounce for that...and in Vancouver, land of the Koosh...it's even cheaper. The funk in Japan is home grown garbage. What's the penalty anyways for getting caught with a gram or so? Jail time for a foreigner? Anyone been nabbed in japan that would like to share a story?
