Two questions

Postby canman » Mon Jun 13, 2005 10:31 am

Can anybody recommend good but reasonably prices wireless speakers, for a home stereo. Also I would like to connect a tv to our antenna, but there is no jack in that particular room. Other than running a 20meter line is there any kind of device that allows you to wirelessly send the signal to the tv. As you can see I'm on a wireless kick these days. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you are hoping to attain. You still need a power source, and the speakers need to be amplified too. I am not sure what is available in Japan but I know if you poke around on Google you will find lots of "big name" ones like Sony and Pioneer. I'm sure there must be some stuff available here too.

Broadcasting one video stream + basic audio is no problem, although choosing what you broadcast will require either walking back to the "base station" or finding a system that lets you use a remote. Quality will vary widely depending on your location and the system you put into place.

Broadcasting all channels at once on their original frequencies is going to be very difficult and quite possibly illegal. I'd probably just run a wire in this case...

Something like this:

They're about US$100 it seems. Don't know if it would be able to control a Japanese TV or VCR though so it is probably better to get one in Akihabara or via a Japanese web site somewhere.

For the speakers I'm not looking for something really powerful, just a decent speaker that transmits a good sound, not high fidelity or anything like that. We recently added a sun room to the house and I would like to sit out there and listen to music from my skyperfect tuner. We have a power source, out there, but I just don't want to run wires or anything like that. I tried some of the big names and my wife was looking on some Japanese sites, but we kind of came up empty. There are tons in North America, but would prefer to buy here in Japan. About the tv transmitter that was exactly what I was looking for. Will also try and see if they have anything like that here in japan.

You might be happier with a wireless broadcast system for the stereo then, rather than wireless speakers. Just get a small all-in-one stereo for the sunroom that has Aux input. Attach the wireless receiver to the aux inputs and then you can control the volume without having to run back and forth!

There are also systems that will pass infrared remote control signals over RF back to the main room...
