Japanese woman weds Masai warrior as second wife
Kyodo, Friday June 17, 7:45 AM
.....Maki Nagamatsu, a tour guide from the western Japan city of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, tied the knot in April this year as second wife to Jackson ole Seyio, a traditional Masai warrior, who never attended school.....
She said they first met in Dec. 2003 during a ritual graduation ceremony of initiation for young Masai warriors. Seyio was one the "morans" -- the Masai word for warrior, who were graduating then. ....more....

That is crazy... Makeinu Marries Masai would have been a better headline for that story LOL

She's in for a grand life... sheep herding, polygamy, malaria, god knows what else. I think somehow that this wedding won't last....

In the past, Masai warriors have wed British, German and American women in whirlwind love affairs which often culminate in bitter tussles and divorce.

It's funny, the few Masai I have known in Canada were anything but morons, one guy I know got his PhD and was working for the world bank. I guess it has got me thinking about how collossally unrepresentative were are of the countries we come from. :?

I'm a little jealous. She's cute. I had a wank over it though. Thinking her taking that big African 'foto' in the bush jungle somewhere with the 1st wife looking on all jealous gives me a boner.

AK you haven't got a chance. All warriors come with large spears. You'll just have to stay jealous. I suggest another wank-

Hell, that's an Internet classic and the first thing I thought of when I read "Masai 'moran." I had a Masai 'moran' housemate in college and he was the opposite of Dimwit's Masai with a "PhD and was working for the world bank." He ate raw hamburger and milk for his 3-square meals and he regularly was in legal trouble for dating "misunderstandings." Ahhhh, such is faulty knowledge based on small numbers on people. :(

Update after 11 years, NHK style
Hello Africa: Interview with a Japanese woman married to a Masai warrior in Kenya
NHK WORLD | April 24, 2016
We invite Maki Nagamatsu who has been acting as a bridge between Kenya and Japan for 20 years to our studio. She tells us about how she met her Masai husband and was fascinated by Masai culture. (Listen to a Pollyanna-esque podcast.)

A more realistic update..

Maki Nagamatsu – My Maasai Warrior Husband
True Love Magazine -- December 2011
…
But one day, after a couple of months into the marriage, she woke up and decided enough was enough. She was leaving the country. She was tired of all the problems and all the lying to tourists. She sold her matatu and left for Japan with her Kenyan husband in tow.
She returned to her tour job. Her husband, with the help of her father, got a teaching job and played African music, both of which paid well. Soon, he went back to his old ways of cheating and she decided to end the marriage after just a year.
She laughs and says, “I came back to Japan because I wanted to forget about Kenya, but here was Kenya with me. It is so funny, my husband was the Kenya I wanted to forget about and I had strung him along.” After the divorce, he opted to remain in Japan.

Taro, it looks like you are confusing the first husband, from which she divorced, and the second husband. Isn't she happily married to the second one?

Well put, young man. I was shocked and dismayed at the use of such an archaic term to describe an individual worthy of better. Let's see how long a few Canadian born PhDs would last in Masai land and then decide who's the moron.
