Japan's rule of China was "more beneficial"

Postby Taro Toporific » Sun Jun 19, 2005 9:54 pm

Was I sleeping the whole time during Asian History 101?
Hmm. Somebody set me straight on this. Did more Chinese die in the Great Leaps than in Nanking and the like, and therefore the Japan colonial period was better?

Defending a radical reappraisal of modern Chinese history
Frank Dikotter is a pioneering historian and friend of Taiwan who has stirred controversy with his books about China

taipeitimes.com, June 19, 2005
..."The suffering of ordinary people in China endured between 1911 and 1949 was minor compared with what they were to experience after 1949 when 30 to 40 million people died as a result of the Great Leap Forward alone," Dikotter says.
...As for Taiwan itself, its half-century under Japanese rule was more beneficial than China's half-century under the Communist Party has been. ...more... :?:

Japan nazis were hell bent on the eradication and extermination of non-Japanese....no deying it, they were imperial fascists

Mao was a sick dictator that crushed his own people
his ideas were backward but with the help of some western sanctions and embargo the Chinese were soon to starve
but in his own twisted way evil-dictator Mao actually helped China in some weird way, gave it a stronger identity and place on the world stage, exploded nukes and sent the East is Red satellite into Space giving the Chinese a very capable military, plus Mao won wars...fighting the Japanese, KMT, and border conflicts

Mao ruled 30% of the worlds population for about 30 years he was f*cked up he made cr*p of the Chinese life
but he wanted to do good for China
some of the mess Mao got came before him, bioweapon and chemical mess left behind after the Japanese, burnt villages and poverty due to Japan, a nation destroyed by civil war, he inherited a poverty stricken country

Japan fascists never wanted to give anything good to outsiders
the Japanese wanted to exterminate all non-Japanese
sometimes you've got to take the taipei times with a pinch of salt, they are sometimes blinded by their hate for China-commies, have supported the banning of Jackie Chan movies and are good friends with Tokyo racist Blinky

Are you seriously asking? No offence but I find the question surprising.
Well, the most conservative estimates start at 10 Million dead and go up to 50 Million for the Great Leap Forward, and Mao has killed many many more of his own people in various political purges.
Concerning Nankin it's somewhere between 50 and 350 thousand. But then the Japanese did that in just a few days, massacring systematically.

Off-topic, but it reminds me of a particularily comical episode of Mao's genius in agricultural planning. He decided one morning that birds were consumming too much grain while not producing anything and so launched a crazy campaign where litterally everyone had to go outside banging on pots and pans non-stop for several days until millions of birds dropped dead on the ground from exhaustion. As a result, the ensuing explosion of insects ruined the crops and made the famine much worse.
That's not a cartoon, that's China.
