A location-aware blogging tool has won first prize in the UK round of the Imagine Cup...The team submitted 'One Reach', a design which allows travelling gap year students to blog their journey using a smartphone. Bit Shifters will head to Yokohama in Japan next month to compete for a share of the $215,000 total prize fund in the global competition.

Yokohama was chosen as the venue for the Imagine Cup 2005 Finals because it now defines much of what is modern Japan. It's a place that juxtaposes the old and the new, the traditional and the modern, the technologically sophisticated and the beautifully simple. This has inspired the theme of the Imagine Cup 2005: "Imagine a world where technology dissolves the boundaries between us."
