Local residents vouch for their fugu
ZAKZAK (Japanese only) has on odd story about stolen fugu. The gist of it is that, last Sunday, a fish was stolen from the kitchen of a high class restaurant in the upmarket area of Shiroganedai in Tokyo. The fugu had not, however, been prepared for eating - all the life-threatening poison was still inside. The restaurant informed the ward health centre who promptly sent out a loudspeaker car warning residents not to eat it. Although this isn't an everday occurrence, it appears that sending out a car to shout "Don't eat the fugu" is not that uncommon. The same ward had to do it three years ago.
