The first podcast is available for download!

And there is still a chance if you are interested to produce your own podcast program :D

Transcripts are being left up to the individual podcaster to provide. There isn't one available for the first program.

That's an interesting question. I tried from Japan after getting all sign-up nice and proper here and the US Apple site wouldn't let me get in without a US credit card billing address. So, I would guess they do the reverse from the states to Japan.

If you don't have a credit card with a billing address in the requested country, they probably will nix it.

As for purchases maybe what gboothe said about the cr cards is the case, but just browsing & sampling music and downloading free podcasts aint a thing but a chicken wing - see pic:
(click choose store - and you are brought to a list of countries/flags)

This is where I kept running into trouble. I am registered in Japan, but if I go to the US store, it will not recognize any credit cards for me, because all of mine are billed to my Japan address, so not having a US card, it would not allow me to register.

If there is way I would like to know about, because my daughter is driving me nuts!

Shortly after the US itunes store launch (and before there were any international itunes stores), I seem to remember reading that some foreigners, while in the US, had opened up itunes accounts and then went home to the wilds of their homeland (I think it was Canada). Apple then figured out that they were accessing the US itunes store from a non-US location and closed their accounts due to licensing/TOS violation issues and, I believe, even invalidated the music they had legally bought while in the US. These folks, understandably, were rather upset about this but I don't know how it was all resolved. But it was clear they were tracking IP address (at least at a nation level)

Could prepaid itunes cards be a way around this?...I'm trying to remember if I had to give a CC the first time I signed up because I used a prepaid card the first time I used it. And these prepaid cards are designed for the market without credit cards/parents who didn't want their kids going to town on their credit cards.

Is that Gomigirl?

Interesting, but the transition-soundeffects between points is kinda odd.
