Asahi Kasei Fibers Corp, a subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Corp, said it has reached a basic agreement with Lanxess Deutschland GmbH to buy [their]spandex business...DorlastanR, marketed since 1964, is one of the world's leading brands of spandex.

Japanese spandex doesn't stretch to cover Korea, though...

Yonhap: Hyosung wins spandex infringement dispute with Japan's Asahi
South Korean textile maker Hyosung Corp. has won a legal dispute with a Japanese rival over alleged infringement of the latter's patented spandex technology, Hyosung's legal representative said Monday. Last year, Japanese fiber manufacturer Asahi Kasei Fibers Corp. filed a lawsuit against Hyosung claiming that constituents in Hyosung's spandex products were the same as their own. The Seoul Central District Court recently ruled against the Japanese company, according to Lee & Ko, the law firm representing Hyosung, citing differences in the manufacturing method...more...

Ahhh, Korea has learned well Japan in filing the totally bogus patent infringment lawsuits. Spandex tech is more than 50 years old --- This lawsuit for infringement ain't novel, useful, or nonobvious patentwise. Sheesh.:?
