Forbes: Coca-Cola widens recall of soft drink bottles in Japan
The Japanese unit of US beverage giant Coca-Cola Co will expand a recall to withdraw 2.37 mln bottles of soft drinks laced with iron powder, company officials said Wednesday. The subsidiary had announced a withdrawal earlier this month of 570,000 bottles of six soft drinks manufactured between March 26 and 30 at a factory in central Japan. It said it will expand the recall to 27 beverages, including flagship drinks Coca-Cola and Diet Coca-Cola, and include drinks that were manufactured before March 26. The company said that the bottles may contain a small amount of iron powder but that there would be no health effects even if consumers drink the beverages which were put on sale only in Japan...more...

I'm glad they got rid of it. The iron kept clogging up my nose.

Yeah cream soda with spice not too sweet. But as an aside it stains like buggery so be careful kiddies.

Irn Bru was one of the drinks I trialed for the Aus. market when I was in the soft drink trade, not a success but it is available now.

OK, I just don't get it, was the iron supposed to be in the drinks, or did it get in there by accident? AFAIK iron doesn't belong in Coca-cola, was it supposed to go into some other drink and just got in there by accident?
