Forbes: Coca-Cola widens recall of soft drink bottles in Japan
The Japanese unit of US beverage giant Coca-Cola Co will expand a recall to withdraw 2.37 mln bottles of soft drinks laced with iron powder, company officials said Wednesday. The subsidiary had announced a withdrawal earlier this month of 570,000 bottles of six soft drinks manufactured between March 26 and 30 at a factory in central Japan. It said it will expand the recall to 27 beverages, including flagship drinks Coca-Cola and Diet Coca-Cola, and include drinks that were manufactured before March 26. The company said that the bottles may contain a small amount of iron powder but that there would be no health effects even if consumers drink the beverages which were put on sale only in Japan...more...
