Two Holes-in-One For Lesser-known Miyazato

Postby Mulboyne » Sat Aug 26, 2006 11:44 pm

[floatl]Image[/floatl]AP: Japan's Miyazato aces 2 holes in same round
Japan's Yusaku Miyazato doesn't speak much English so his caddie helped serve as a translator at the Reno-Tahoe Open on Friday after he became the first golfer in PGA Tour history to make two holes-in-one in the same round. But when it came to a question about his plans for celebrating Friday night, the 26-year-old from Tokyo understood just fine. "Drink much beer. Big party," he said with a wide smile...Miyazato, whose sister Ai has four Top 10 finishes this year on the LPGA Tour, had one previous hole-in-one in his life so was "very excited"...more...

The Japanese golf penalty for a hole-in-one is sending everyone you know a set of golf balls or some other small gift along with a card that says where and when you got the hole in one.

Some clubs sell hole-in-one insurance in case the unthinkable happens.

The closest I've seen in the U.S. is you're responsible for buying the first round of beer at the clubhouse.

Perhaps it's different in the Tokyo area(which I can't beleive) but if you hit a hole in one here in Aomori prefecture, you are looking at spending anywhere up to Y2000 000. I kid you not. First off you must buy your playing parnters a nice gift, as well as the caddy, who must be a witness to the hole in one. Then you are expected to buy a gift for the golf course, to be used on the course, a huge tree or new benches etc. Then you might give gifts to some slub members if you are a member, and then to some of your friends and relatives. It's totalyy f*cked I know, but that's they way its done here. I have a three year insurance policy through Dai-ichi seimei. It cost Y15000 for the three years. All major life insurance companies have these policies. Hell I just found out they have a Ice Hockey policy. My golf insurance also covers if I hit someone with a ball, if my clubs are stolen or any damage incurred while playing.

Anyway back to Miyazato, it was a great feat, and I hope he gets some cool prize from his sponsors. I can't believe he hit two in one round.

Golf is so ghey and anyone who would bow to that retarded social pressure is lame. I hit a hole in one so I must pay thousands of dollars is right up there with clitoridectomy.

Yeah, the Japanese response is pretty extreme, but I understand the buying a round of beer for the witnesses... unless you make sure they're happy, you never hit that hole in one, did you?

I like golf, but until you hit that one great shot with your friends watching, it can be a frustrating experience.

Probably the "gheyist" part are the attitudes that some of the other players bring to the course. For some reason, golf attracts a lot of assholes. :?:
