Naturally I want Kikuchi to win. I liked the nude scenes although I could not understand the end with her father on the balcony although the camera angle was amazing. Where did they shoot from?

The nude scene was nothing special. She looks pretty average for a naked Japanese girl. Besides, I actually don't think it worked because that did not look like a teenager's nude body.

I won't get into it for all of you who haven't had the pleasure of seeing the movie. But that end scene wasn't hard to understand at all. I can't understand why Jack didn't get it.

BTW, unless they show it with English subtitles here or you can read Japanese fast enough to follow subtitles don't bother seeing this movie. Even if you're fluent in spoken Japanese, Arabic, and Spanish you'll still have to read Japanese for the scenes in sign language.

Well it doesn't matter why I did not get it. The fact is I did not get so can you please enlighten me?

I agree the nude scene was not great and she did not have a great body to begin with. But I have not seen that many Japanese actresses naked in a movie on a full frontal shot like that.

Kikuchi has just lined up another job in Hollywood. Twitch reports that she will have a role in Rian Johnson's new film, The Brothers Bloom," which is likely to feature Adrien Brody and Rachel Weisz. Johnson directed "Brick" which is a very clever film.

It seems that she still can't be trusted with any lines, though. Aint it Cool News has this to say:

A pianist and that cute, naked Japanese chick from Babel have joined THE BROTHERS BLOOM!!!!
The flick is about a pair of con artist brothers... genius' really. They have intricate plans, mindblowingly intricate, yet not out of this world. One is very satisfied with the life they've led and one feels something is lacking...Already cast is the delectable Rachel Weisz as Penelope, super rich heiress target for the current plot by the brothers. Joining her are Adrien Brody as Bloom, the younger troubled brother, and Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) as a mysterious and silent partner in the brothers' efforts.

It got the Oscar for "Best Documentary". However, reading all the after awards hype and hearing the interviews, it would appear that they gave Gore an oscar, not the film!

Rinko Kikuchi, almost unknown in her native Japan, took center stage on Wednesday...

Exclusive Interview: Rinko Kikuchi "Babel"
Dark Horizons
Few outside of Japan may have heard of the beautiful Rinko Kikuchi, but those of us who have already seen Babel, are already raving about the actress's extraordinary and brave performance as a deaf teenager dealing with your budding sexuality, guilt of your mother's suicide and the pangs of feeling an outsider in contemporary Japan...more...

What's the difference? Sounds to me like you're trying to minimize his achievement and the film's because you don't like the subject matter and/or the person.

Also remember that Melissa Etheridge got the Oscar for her song that was featured in Gore's movie. So there were two Oscars attributable to An Inconvenient Truth.

I though it was funny how they kept teasing the audience with possible announcements of Gore's candidacy for Prez. Something tells me he would have a good chance to win the nomination if he announced.

Atatari! I also do not trust or believe the man who invented the internet.

You are probably right on there Bird, considering what the Dems have to choose from!

Man, you're still hung up on that? How many lies and pufferies has Bush made - yet you don't seem fazed by them at all.

You have something there, Booth. Here's why I think Gore could be a shoo-in for the nomination:

1) everyone knows Gore - anything possibly damaging about him was already brought out in the open in 2000. He's been vetted by the public, so there would be no surprises.

2) he still has the mystique of his association with the Clinton administration without the negatives of the scandals.

3) he's demonstrated that electability isn't such an issue - he won the popular vote in 2000 AND he's a whitey male from the South (which takes care of anyone hung up on the race/gender issue with the current front runners).

4) he would have the leadership and government experience that Obama lacks and the support of anti-war activists that Hillary lacks.

Also, some important intangibles are in his favor:

5) any jokes about his wooden personality are going to sound like repetitive and obnoxious throwbacks to the 1990's, and

6) the success of his movie and his high profile at the Oscars give him a bit of a hip vibe for 2008.

Coverage was crap. Why do they need to have John Kabrilla and Kimtaku giving their opinions about what happened. Nobody cares. Just show the damn show and spare us the crappy opinions of people who are not talented enough to ever get to the Oscars.

I was referring to the question that your fellow Dems were try to raise, "Is Obama black enough?".

But, now that you mention it, Gore is a nice kind of a fish belly white. If he didn't have varicose veins, he wouldn't have any complexion at all.

But, that's all right to the Greenies, because he's soooo sensitive to man's degradation of the enviornment......"

The press release from Johnson's group, an obscure conservative think tank founded by Johnson in 2004 when he was 24, was given splashy attention on the highly-trafficked Drudge Report Monday evening, and former Gore aides saw it as part of a piece, along with an Fox News Channel investigation from earlier this month of Gore's use of private planes in 2000. Last year, a seemingly amateurish Youtube video mocking the "An Inconvenient Truth" turned out to have been produced by slick Republican public relations firm called DCI, which just happens to have oil giant Exxon as a client.

Snooze- more garbage from Exxon and apologist friends. What are you doing to cut your emissions before you point fingers.

Environmentalists use a lot of paper (I went through about 10 reams in a couple of months) and travel a lot to meet with people. I'm sure my office utility bill is high even if my home is under 300KWH/month for electricity for three people.

If you can keep the "enviromental impact" of your home relatively low, why not your office? Why not limit paper consumption in favour of electronic communication, limit travel in favour of teleconferencing, video-calls, etc. Why not use buses instead of taxis and personal vehicles, choose airlines with the most efficient engines on their airframes? Why can't business lead the way in enviromental friendliness? If you don't lead by example, how do you?

The Johnson thing is an obvious smear job to try to take the wind out of Gore's sails. It also completely subverts the conversation by ridiculing Gore instead of acknowledging the truth of what he is saying. It's a classic Republican smear tactic.

Al Gore Caught Warming Globe To Increase Box Office Profits

Dozens of eyewitness reports indicated that former vice president Al Gore deliberately attempted to raise the earth's temperature in order to boost box office receipts for An Inconvenient Truth, his documentary film about global warming that was released in May...

Why does Al Gore's Nashville mansion use more than 20 times as much electricity as the national average?

-Entire east wing is a walk-in fridge for snacks

-Tipper says there's no point listening to Cannibal Corpse if you don't TURN THAT $#!+ UP

-Bush stole all the off-switches

-Needs to run the AC non-stop to keep his daughters from burning the place down with their hotness

-He's building a Death Star
