Naturally I want Kikuchi to win. I liked the nude scenes although I could not understand the end with her father on the balcony although the camera angle was amazing. Where did they shoot from?

The nude scene was nothing special. She looks pretty average for a naked Japanese girl. Besides, I actually don't think it worked because that did not look like a teenager's nude body.

I won't get into it for all of you who haven't had the pleasure of seeing the movie. But that end scene wasn't hard to understand at all. I can't understand why Jack didn't get it.

BTW, unless they show it with English subtitles here or you can read Japanese fast enough to follow subtitles don't bother seeing this movie. Even if you're fluent in spoken Japanese, Arabic, and Spanish you'll still have to read Japanese for the scenes in sign language.

I agree the nude scene was not great and she did not have a great body to begin with. But I have not seen that many Japanese actresses naked in a movie on a full frontal shot like that.

Kikuchi has just lined up another job in Hollywood. Twitch reports that she will have a role in Rian Johnson's new film, The Brothers Bloom," which is likely to feature Adrien Brody and Rachel Weisz. Johnson directed "Brick" which is a very clever film.

It seems that she still can't be trusted with any lines, though. Aint it Cool News has this to say:

Also remember that Melissa Etheridge got the Oscar for her song that was featured in Gore's movie. So there were two Oscars attributable to An Inconvenient Truth.

I though it was funny how they kept teasing the audience with possible announcements of Gore's candidacy for Prez. Something tells me he would have a good chance to win the nomination if he announced.

You have something there, Booth. Here's why I think Gore could be a shoo-in for the nomination:

1) everyone knows Gore - anything possibly damaging about him was already brought out in the open in 2000. He's been vetted by the public, so there would be no surprises.

2) he still has the mystique of his association with the Clinton administration without the negatives of the scandals.

3) he's demonstrated that electability isn't such an issue - he won the popular vote in 2000 AND he's a whitey male from the South (which takes care of anyone hung up on the race/gender issue with the current front runners).

4) he would have the leadership and government experience that Obama lacks and the support of anti-war activists that Hillary lacks.

Also, some important intangibles are in his favor:

5) any jokes about his wooden personality are going to sound like repetitive and obnoxious throwbacks to the 1990's, and

6) the success of his movie and his high profile at the Oscars give him a bit of a hip vibe for 2008.

If you can keep the "enviromental impact" of your home relatively low, why not your office? Why not limit paper consumption in favour of electronic communication, limit travel in favour of teleconferencing, video-calls, etc. Why not use buses instead of taxis and personal vehicles, choose airlines with the most efficient engines on their airframes? Why can't business lead the way in enviromental friendliness? If you don't lead by example, how do you?

The Johnson thing is an obvious smear job to try to take the wind out of Gore's sails. It also completely subverts the conversation by ridiculing Gore instead of acknowledging the truth of what he is saying. It's a classic Republican smear tactic.
