69 Japanese nationals in Solomons confirmed safe after quake
(Kyodo) _ The Foreign Ministry said Monday it has confirmed all 69 Japanese nationals in the Solomon Islands are safe after a strong earthquake which hit the islands earlier in the day. The magnitude 8.0 earthquake devastated parts of the Solomon Islands, killing at least 12 people on three islands and causing serious structural damage, according to reports and the authorities in the South Pacific country.
Why is it when the Japanese media cover an international story they ALWAYS cast it as the Japanese are OK, but oh, by the way, at least 12 poor other folks did not make it? (Don't answer this question, I already know the answer.)
Never fear, our fellow countrymen are safe. I thought the story was that there had been a tsunami. My mistake, it was that 69 japanese were OK.
