Fucking awesome. I'm hoping they are coming to Nagoya as well.

Metropolis had a pull-out section.. (Maybe it's called 'withdrawl section'?..) Anyway, it's about burgers.

...but why pay when you can find any number of those "burgers" for free on the sidewalks of Roppongi (or any JR platform) after a certain hour.

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Good news for burger lovers. The world’s No. 2 hamburger chain, Miami-based Burger King, makes its long-awaited return to the Japanese market on June 8 when it opens at Nishi-shinjuku (Shinjuku i-Land). A second restaurant will open June 22 in Ikebukuro.

Journalists and invited guests eat at Burger King in Shinjuku on Wednesday. Burger King is returning to the Japanese market six years after it left amid a price war. The first store, located beside the Japan HQ of McDonald's in Shinjuku i-Land, opens Friday and a second store will open June 22 in Ikebukuro's Sunshine City. The burgers will be U.S. size with the most expensive being the Double Whopper with cheese and bacon for 600 yen. (Japan Today)

Excuse the stupid question, but do you have to be a member of the TAC to dine there? Please don't tell me you all are paying the 200man "annual membership fee". ;)

That membership fee is almost always paid by companies who offer it to their expat employees as a perk. There is a cheaper option: TAC has reciprocal membership arrangements with the YCAC and KRAC which are both considerably cheaper. There are quite a few people who join those clubs personally and still get to use TAC facilities - I think you need to belong to them for a year before you get that right, though. My personal preference is to latch onto a TAC member: since only members can pay the bills this is far and away the cheapest method.

Also, the ACCJ's various committees tend to hold meetings at TAC, and you wind up eating there as a result. Mulb is right, though, that latching onto a member is the cheapest way to go (they usually have the discretionary income to spare, so there's no guilt)!

It's obviously a "hero." It is specially constructed by a "food stylist" to look good on camera, but is usually inedible. The vegetables are covered in glycerin to make them shine, the meat was dyed with food coloring by hand, the condiments were loaded with glue to keep them from running, the layers are packed with cardboard spacers to make it stand taller, and it's all held together with dozens of toothpicks.
But it looks really good.

That's all right with me, I'll take her with, or without, the toothpicks!

Korean Suji Park opened Suji's Restaurant in Seoul serving American-style cooking. It was successful and she has now opened in Tokyo near Iikura Katamachi. Burgers, omlettes, pancakes, steak and eggs etc.

GJ - As you munch on that Hannamaki Minchi "Hamburger"...you can think of what you could have had at Burgerville: the Walla Walla Onion Cheeseburger with Walla Walla rings and fresh Blackberry shake. (I am sure your counter girl will be a lot cuter than the rotund woman who always helps me at Burgerville.)

Musclepark out in Daiba, while promoting physical fitness, also has some rather interesting burgers with buns in the shape of vaulting boxes

Some other food items they have that also have a vaulting box theme

My guess is it's supposed to be flour but they used powdered sugar for the photo..

I think it would sell better if it was crack though..

I agree with GJ - Burgerville would kill anything Japan has to offer. No one here knows what a decent burger tastes like - let alone the sides.

Tommy's, Fatburger, Burgerville, Zeke's, In / Out, Murder, Dick's, XXX, etc - casually blow away anything here.

My friend came in from Alasaka a few months ago and brought some fresh (5days) old Moose sirloin. We ground it, spiced it and cooked up a few of the best burgers ever. Complete with WallaWalla's and proper beafsteaks. Wagyu-whatever just doesn't stand up to the searing temps required to do a proper grilling and basically turns to napalm. On the other hand , the Aussie beef holds up like the roadkill you'd expect from a country that hasn't had rain for, what, 7yrs? But - it tastes like that too. Everything is wrong about burgers in Japan. The buns, the meat, the seaoning, the cheese, the lettuce, the onions, tomato and relish. If they could just one or 2 things right it would help alot.
See you in PyonPyang!
