Hunting (whoever) season would seem to be in full swing given two separate stories.
From the Mainichi Daily News:

A Kanagawa Prefecture man shot a hiker in a suburban Tokyo forest over the weekend after he mistakenly thought he was a wild boar, police said.
The 57-year-old man from Hiratsuka is being questioned over the incident that occurred while he was hunting in the Okutama area of outer Tokyo.
And an unrelated story from the Japan Today:
Hunter accidentally shoots himself, 10-year-old son in Nagano
NAGANO — A hunter accidentally shot himself and his 10-year-old son on Sunday in Nagano, police said Monday. The two were sent to hospital but their injuries are not life-threatening, they said.
