IE: I went to Shimane Pref. once, nice place, and in Matsue City not a big city there were about 30 taxis waiting in a lot in front of the station, very few people around, and when a customer walked up to get a taxi the first taxi in the lot drove out of the lot and up to the the cutomer line.
You know the rest of the story, every single taxi had its engine on, and all of the drivers were standing outside of their car, chatting, some sitting on nearby benches

So dont make this sound like an isolated incident, it happens EVERYDAY, EVERWHERE in Japan and for hour after hour.
If I do just leave as always is the japanese answer for an critical comments made by foriegn people n japan, what then?? this is not about me, its about the environment, conservation of energy, reducing noise pollution, and yes...common sense.
If I go, the problem wont, clearly japanese peolple dont want to hear about problems or solve them. so yes that is fucked.
Its good that many ride bikes as you say, I agree, should be more of it in the west too. But consider, The US/CAN/AUST/UK/NZ in part. are car cultures, but i have never seen idyling like that in those countries.
Japan has a population density greater than any of those countries,......so you would think this would be an issue of concern.

I heard of an english guy that passed out leaflets trying to educate idyling drivers.....he was largely met with anger and laughter, as i said it seems foreign people care more about japan than the japanese do.

Gai, as for your typical ignorant predjudice comments, well not reply need other than you dont know my secrets, or anything else by the looks of you posts.
