The Japanese think they've discovered a mathematical formula to find the hottest chicks ever... find a regular chick on the street, ask her to introduce you to her hottest friend. Then ask this chick to introduce you to HER hottest friend... and so on and so on. They test out the formula in, where else? Italy!

The point is, they managed to make a show about hot chicks unwatchable.

I don't think this "formula" would work in real life, because I've found most women I know (my wife included) have very different ideas of "hot" than most men I know.

My wife will often go on about one of her friends being hot, and I am almost never impressed when I actually meet them.

Then she has friends who she doesn't think of as hot, but most guys I know would.

Then of course there's the whole getting punched in the face when you nampa a girl just to ask her to introduce you to her hottest friend

I had two continuous thoughts while watching the show:

1. There must be hotter women than this in Italy.
2. The bulky winter coats spoiled everything.

i've seen this show, unfortunately on an actual j-tv with the obnoxious "let's repeat this segment three times" cut-to scenes etc. jeebus i hate that fucking crap.. it was during dinner, the only time i'm subjected to j-tv. anyway all i can say about the show is that it's complete bunk.

it's based on the opinions of women about women, which as someone has pointed out tend to vary vastly from the opinions of men. hell, even between men there can be significant differences in what one considers "hot". some of the girls they showed were indeed very attractive, but honestly i found a good number of them to be very average or simply not my type (not that i'd kick them out of bed or rebuff an advance) .. yeah, let me dream.

secondly, it's based on very, very subjective data - the opinion of one individual early in the show determines the subsequent branching (were we to proceed on the assumption that the show was honest and not staged, which it obviously is).

i'm no math whiz, but if it were at all accurate, shouldn't you be able to start with any random seed (ie any individual) and eventually arrive to the same conclusion?
