The Origin of Shoyu is in Korea nida!!!

"Inventor of Shoyu is Korean nida!!!". To correct the "wrong" recognition that World thinks Shoyu origin is in Japan, Korean company plans to put an strategy into operation, Korean JoongAngIlbo reported. But Kikkoman, which occupies 60% of shoyu used in U.S, said "We heard the theory of Korean shoyu origin for the first time!".
In Kamakura period(1185~1333), buddist monk Kakushin carried a method of manufacturing miso back from China to Japan and on the basis of the method shoyu was invented. This is the origin of shoyu, according to Japan Shoyu Association.

In addition, Korean also try stealing Judo, Kendo, Karate, Samurai(Bushi-do), J-sword, cherry blossom, origami, sushi, sashimi, udon, way of tea, and so on.
Why do Kimchi dudes always try stealing cultures from foreign countries, especially Japan and China?
Get a life, Kimchi dudes.

How about yoshoku like omuraisu? Also, curry rice, coroquet, etc.? Tons of food eaten in Japan has been pilfered from other countries.

ive never heard a japanese person claim kimchi, gyoza or ramen are from japan.. mcdonalds, yes. 7-11, yes. but curry, no.
sure japan borrows a lot from other countries, and has for a long time (buddhism, kanji...), but i dont think they insist these things are from japan, but then again, im sure some delusional people do.
i dont know enough about the history of these other things to say if they originated in korea, japan, or china, but even from take's own post it would seem shoyu came from china:

I heard from many Koreans that chilli peppers came from Japan (likely by way of China or S.E. Asia). So, in a way the modern S. Korea kimchee has a Japanese influence. Before chilli was added the kimchee was like mizu-kimchee, which is the type the N. Koreans prefer.

Actually, chili peppers came from the Americas like corn, tomatoes, and potatoes. Thank you Cristobal Colon!

Tempura was brought to Japan by Portugese sailors. Funnily enough, I've never met a Japanese person who knew that.

I've met quite a few Japanese who know that to include that tempura is a derivative of the Portugee word and not Nihongo!

I have to agree with Takechanpoo. I've never heard Japan claim to completely originate those foods. The "yo" character in "yoshoku" basically means "western" (and they ain't talking about kansai). Also, ramen is even written in Katakana. The first sentence in the history section of the Japanese Wikipedia page on Gyoza acknowledges the Chinese origin of Gyoza. That doesn't mean people in Japan don't believe they improved on the inventions, though.

Next year, the Koreans will be claiming they invented sushi....

However, I don't think we'll see the Japanese claiming they invented freshly-beaten dog meat stew.

I have to agree. Way back when I was a newbie and would get asked what my "favorite japanese foods" were every ten seconds, I would almost always be told Japanese that ramen and gyoza were actually Chinese and so not really Japanese food.

Oh, and the Chinese claim natto.

I think you might just be hanging out with dumb people then ;)

I've met plenty of Japanese who didn't know specifically where things came from, but they at least knew the came from somewhere else (like the word arubaito, which plenty of Japanese seem to think is English).

I have met a lot who think 7-11 and the "conbini" concept is Japanese though.

If the Koreans really wanted to rile people up they should just claim they invented the Japanese royal family...

I hadn't heard that one yet. Actually I don't know if I've ever heard any Japanese mistakenly claim something Japanese was from somewhere else...

I'm not sure if you are being ironic but, just in case you aren't, Mr Donut was originally a US company and the first Japan operations were a franchise deal.

Holy crap, I haven't seen that name in decades. My sister used to work in the local Mister Donut shop back in the 1970s, when she was in high school.

I'm glad to know I wasn't imagining things. I thought I remembered Mr. Donut from when I was a kid in the US but everyone kept telling me it was a Japanese chain, so I thought I was wrong.
